I suppose you could try to justify that, if you really wanted to. 😳

PJ Harvey is truly in a league of her own...

I feel an overwhelming urge to just lose myself in pure indulgence—to soak in cream, feast on grapes, and have someone like Robert De Niro sitting right there with me. It is enough to keep me wide awake at night;
the mere thought sends my mind spinning in circles.

I find myself dreaming of escaping to Spain, spending endless nights simply sipping on sweet nectar over ice. But honestly, sleep evades me because my thoughts are racing so intensely, leaving my head in a constant state of vertigo.

I want to be more daring than even the most notorious historical villains who sought to wipe out entire populations. I want to cause absolute chaos! I can’t catch a wink of sleep because my mind won't stop spinning; even Aphrodite herself couldn't compete with the intensity I'm feeling.

Take me to the moon, fly me to the moon.
I want to let my hair down on stage, calling out for my Romeo to come and find me amidst the chaos. My head is still reeling; even Aphrodite doesn't stand a chance against this feeling.
Take me to the moon, fly me to the moon.

Carla from Walkabouts
little girl from the Cranberries
Sarah Vaughan
Joan Armatrading
Dusty Springfield
And definitely Bette Midler with Waits' *Never Talk to Strangers*. I always end up laughing and crying, then laughing and crying again... man, that one really hits me right in the heart...

There was a time when Mariah Carey possessed this incredible, five-octave range—the kind of voice that even Aretha Franklin would deeply respect. Nowadays, I just can't bring myself to call her vocals beautiful anymore.

Her latest album feels like a shadow of her former self, mostly just a collection of aimless humming. 😢

Great female vocalists?
There are plenty, frankly.
For instance,

Björk—her voice gives me actual chills.

PJ Harvey—a voice that is... well, easily the most seductive in the industry.

Beth Gibbons—the kind of voice that could make a serial killer weep.

Natalie Merchant
Kim Deal
Tracy Thorn
Dinah Washington
Patti Smith
Macy Gray
And so on.

But Sarah Nixey remains my favorite. When I hear her, I just melt.

Someone just brought up Joan Baez. Ugh! Seriously, I don't even have enough words to describe how much I hate it. Gross. Just awful.

Though I suppose they might just be hesitating for some vague reason... maybe they aren't quite sure how to put it into words yet. 🙄

You’ve definitely thrown out a massive list of incredible vocalists here, and while I see where everyone is coming from, I can't help but think that Adele could easily hold her own in this conversation too...
