Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

I caught the movie a few days ago. To be honest, I wasn't particularly impressed... It was mediocre at best.

To be specific, almost nothing happens during the first hour, aside from that brief car chase and the scramble into the shuttle. Not to dwell on it, but I felt the crucial moments were rushed through, while the filler—the parts that actually drag—was stretched out far longer than necessary.

I don't think Nemesis is actually that bad.
To my mind, the only truly better ST movies are The Wrath of Khan, First Contact, and—of course—the first one featuring V'Ger.

I honestly can't wrap my head around anyone putting that total disaster, Insurrection, ahead of Nemesis.

I had such a great time watching a Star Trek episode yesterday—it featured that little Bajoranka who meets her end in the escape pod.

Man, as a huge Star Trek fan, I’ve gotta be honest and say this movie was just a total train wreck. Honestly, even the worst Star Trek TV series feels better than this flick, and seeing Data die? That just totally broke me. It's honestly such a bummer, kind of trash if you ask me!

Honestly, I thought the movie was pretty decent...

The second half especially really hit its stride... and I’ll definitely be giving it another watch sometime down the road...

It’s definitely not some cinematic masterpiece, but it’s certainly not garbage either...

When I popped > into my player and settled in, I was fully expecting a complete train wreck. Honestly? The movie blew me away.
If I hadn't heard all the constant whining and hate from critics, I might have been disappointed—though I doubt it—but this actually caught me off guard. It isn't even one-third as bad as some of you losers make it out to be.

Look, I have to concede your point to an extent. If we are talking about the best Star Trek: The Next Generation era film, it has to be First Contact. Honestly, aside from Nemesis, there isn't much competition. I suspect Generations would have been even more of a disaster than Insurrection if Kirk hadn't been involved, though at the end of the day, Insurrection is really just a mediocre TNG episode stretched out to two hours left over.
Do you want to see what a real Star Trek movie looks like? Why don't you go watch Wrath of Khan?

The whole situation with Data's death in Star Trek: Nemesis seems to stem from Brent Spiner moving away from the various Star Trek projects—though I can't say for sure why. It feels like age is finally catching up with everyone; honestly, Data looks like he’s aged ten centuries in Nemesis rather than just fifteen years.
At least, that's what you read about online.

On a different note... if you ask me, Brent is an absolutely phenomenal actor!

Just gotta set the record straight here—the Borg weren't actually introduced in First Contact. It was more about those Sovereign and Akira class ships (if I recall correctly), while the Borg themselves made their debut in the series.

Honestly, I’ll probably just go out and grab Wrath of Khan and the rest of that junk myself, rather than waiting around for CNN to decide to air them. Personally, I don't think there's such a thing as a bad Star Trek movie, and I'm a huge fan of all the TNG films—well, except maybe for Insurrection, though even that one isn't half bad.

The first one—V'Ger!!—is legendary. And Wrath of Khan is just as great. Did you guys ever catch that episode where Khan shows up on the Telkari while Jim was still in charge?
The third one is alright—totally watchable, I guess.
I haven't seen the fourth, the fifth is five being shit, and the sixth is just nonsense.

Generations is okay—definitely not as good as the third.

Insurrection is a decent way to kill two hours.
Nemesis is actually pretty good! It’s definitely more action-oriented—that scene with the ships charging at each other was cool. A little too long, though.

Oh, he’s incredible. He really shines when he’s playing Lore. Playing Data is a different beast entirely; you have to act "wooden," which, believe it or not, actually takes a significant amount of talent.

But I refuse to acknowledge any film where they essentially kill off Data.

The movie feels way too much like a Bond flick... though there are enough little details to keep the Trekkies interested... the plot itself is just garbage.

Anyway, I was rewatching Nemesis today (just trying to connect some dots for my new novel 😁) and I noticed a few little details that actually make the movie even better for me. Like, that part where Data is playing his dimwitted brother Before (B4)... I just thought, "Man, all those intense acting sessions with Picard and Crusher in the holodeck really paid off."

Please, let’s not forget that one episode of Star Trek: Voyager where the Captain charges headlong into some vessel controlling time, causing both her ship and the other craft to explode, only for time to reset (or whatever the mechanic was...) 🙄, and of course, nobody is hurt. Voyager comes out without a single scratch, and everyone just carries on as if nothing happened at all...
