After her marriage falls apart and she faces the devastating loss of her mother, Cheryl Strayed finds herself completely adrift. Following a period of chaotic, self-destructive choices, she makes a sudden, impulsive move. Armed with zero training but fueled by pure grit, Cheryl tackles over a thousand miles of the Appalachian Trail entirely on her own. *Wild* is such a powerful look at the fears and triumphs of a young woman pushing through the pain on a journey that tests her limits, builds her character, and eventually leads her toward healing.

👍👍👍👍

I’ve been scrolling through the forums for ages, and I can’t believe no one has started a thread about this incredible movie yet!

So, what did you guys think?

A decent enough movie, but nothing to write home about. A pretty thin week for cinema.

It’s hard to even call this a movie. The acting feels pretty minimal, and it basically just follows a woman trekking with a massive backpack while reminiscing about past tragedies. It felt quite thin to me... almost like watching my neighbor mow his lawn and then grab a beer afterward...

A total tour de Force from Reese Witherspoon.

At first glance, it looks like just another role, but let’s be real—it’s one of those performances that is incredibly difficult to nail convincingly.

Solid plot, though it doesn't quite reach the heights of Into The Wild.

Look, I totally get where they're coming from—Into The Wild is an absolute masterpiece and such a legendary book. But what makes this one so special is the perspective! It gives us a woman's point of view, and since it's based on a true story, that adds such a beautiful layer of depth.

It feels almost like being the younger sister to the protagonist of Into The Wild 😁

Look, I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece—but it was easily one of my favorites from last year, mostly because it's based on a true story and the pacing actually works. Plus, those essays she wrote? Absolutely top-tier.

A truly great film. 😍 Death is such a common trope in cinema, but in this one, I actually felt a genuine wave of emotion—that raw, aching grief for his mother. It’s one of those rare instances where I felt a profound connection to a character. There wasn't a single dull moment, and the way they wove the flashbacks into the main narrative was masterfully done. I won't spoil too much, but if you haven't seen it yet, consider this my recommendation. 👍

I'm planning to watch Into The Wild in the next few days, too; I've been curious about it for a while.

A truly magnificent review—an interpretation, an analysis, perhaps even an essay—of Muf.

Personally, I find > to be the superior film; I suppose it’s because it taps into something more universal, a certain human truth.

I've always found her a bit grating—honestly, she was never quite my cup of tea—but this is the first movie where I didn't find her performance nearly as irritating.

The book is the same way. Honestly, you probably need some actual life experience to really "get" it. It’s definitely not for everyone, that's for sure. But for me? It was awesome! And it's not even about tragedies—it's more like flashbacks triggered by the journey. The movie isn't depressing at all, actually quite the opposite. It starts at rock bottom, but it's all about the climb up.

Beautiful movie, didn't drag once.
It got a little heavy at times, I guess, but overall it was positive.
Definitely worth a watch.

Simon & Garfunkel really fits the vibe— el Cóndor pas

Look, it’s just not cool to go around copy-pasting English content onto an American forum...
