I mean, looking at the numbers, American taxpayers are sitting on the best economy we've seen in seventy years. We've got unemployment rates hitting rock bottom and the economic outlook for the next decade looks pretty solid, too. Honestly, people can easily handle dealing with Cats that don't drain their bank accounts, unlike that absolute garbage they call American cinema. And, uh, hats off to bluecyclist64 for such a great troll, though I feel like maybe not enough people actually realized 😁

Sure—and every single summer season here in the States keeps breaking previous records too.

And that was exactly my intention.

The American taxpayer is stuck with a completely dysfunctional Senate and arguably the most incompetent president in our nation's history, largely because the public has been systematically numbed by the sheer volume of mindless content they consume. On one hand, you have this gymnastic war propaganda designed to humanize the military-industrial complex; on the other, there's an endless push toward hyper-sexualized "individuality" as if being provocative is the pinnacle of the human experience.

I completely agree; that was pure irony.

Who on earth are Lazić and Kožul, and what do they have to do with this discussion?
No, if I am following correctly, it's just your distaste for the whole Marvel superhero trope that's bothering you. It seems to me you're missing the total rhetorical emptiness inherent in this upcoming mess as well.

Well, damn it, of course it bothers me.
But I see no reason why I should be bothered by some singing Cats that I can't even see.
Have we really fallen this far? Are we truly so shallow that we're being offended by some damn musical? Like La La Land, rather than actual cats?

This movie is going to give Rule 34 artists plenty of material to work with.

I have to admit, I completely missed this thread, otherwise I would have been right there alongside bluecyclist64.
Who cares what anyone says against cats? Let them bark.🙂.

These human-like cats aren't exactly a masterpiece of design... They're a bit on the ugly side... But oh well, cats will be cats. 🙂

velvetgull9 is like some massive Broadway musical, but you can't just turn everything into a movie franchise

this looks like total Razzie bait

That song is just phenomenal...🙏it honestly feels like it belongs in a Broadway musical

Even with all the massive backlash regarding the CGI, I really feel like this could be such a lovely watch during the holiday season when it finally drops, so I'm definitely looking forward to it...🍿

A critic over at The Beat basically said the movie “Cats” is "the worst thing to ever happen to cats since dogs showed up." And honestly? Other outlets were just sitting there waiting for Wednesday night's embargo to lift so they could jump on the bandwagon and roast it just as hard.

Even though that first trailer dropped back in July and left everyone looking super confused, expectations were through the roof. I mean, this is a film version of one of the most famous musicals on the planet—an Andrew Lloyd Webber classic from 38 years ago.

The movie was directed by Tom Hooper (the guy behind “Les Misérables” and “The Danish Girl”) and he managed to pull together a massive cast of superstars like James Corden, Judy Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, and Rebel Wilson... Critics are absolutely losing their minds, screaming that it’s the "worst movie ever" and coming up with all these ridiculous puns to describe how much they hate this depiction of New York City.

People are hating on everything: the acting is off, the special effects (especially that creepy CGI fur) are straight-up nightmare fuel, and the plot is just nonsensical, dark, and way too sexualized... Most people just want to scrub the memory from their brains. It actually pissed off one reviewer from The Telegraph so much that they couldn't even bring themselves to give it a rating—they just gave it zero stars.

- Hooper's total mess of an interpretation is going to be an awkward subject for anyone writing biographies of major actors, and it's a legitimate threat to the careers of newcomers trying to make a name for themselves," wrote a reporter from Variety. But hey, none of that means it won't make money. People who have been obsessed with Webber's work in theaters for nearly four decades are still gonna show up to see it—maybe even because the reviews are so trash. American fans will have to wait until February to catch it in theaters.

It’s an interesting thought, though I must admit, I have never actually sat through a film in a theater.☕

In February, you'll probably find yourself watching theater brought to life on the big screen—it’s like catching a Broadway show right in your living room.
