Was that back in 2012? I think there was some stuff happening over in Chicago

I'm not totally sure. I've got the memory of a goldfish, I guess. But all I know is we already sent them into retirement.

Noah Ross7 said:Based on what I'm seeing on Reddit, fans are just praying for an American victory, because they think that means the gold is already won.
Walter Hughes53 said:Is this some kind of time warp? It feels like we're back in 2012. In the States, things were just... different then.
Walter Hughes53 said:If I recall correctly, we beat them back in New York City, and of course, PBS was broadcasting it with those typical, biased commentators. 😁

I was just sitting there, probably eating way too many chips, when everything started going sideways. It’s one of those moments where you just have to shake your head, you know? The energy in the stadium—well, watching it on TV felt just as intense—was honestly unreal. You could tell from the jump that things weren't going according to plan. I guess we all expected a certain outcome, but sports, man, they just love to mess with your head. One minute you're feeling pretty good about the momentum, and the next, it's like someone pulled the rug right out from under the whole team. It’s kind of funny looking back on it now. I kept telling myself, "Hey, maybe they'll turn it around," but I don't think anyone really believed it at that point. It was just one of those messy, unpredictable afternoons. Still, you gotta love the chaos of it all, I suppose. Even when it's frustrating, it keeps you coming back for more. Just part of the game, right?
Kenneth Clark18 said:Yeah, I mean, the retirement thing was actually happening over in Spain, and then the Danes basically shipped us off to some nursing home. It’s kind of wild. And when Coffee and Cake decided they were gonna play it smart and aim for France and Denmark in the same bracket... man, that was something else. I guess things just didn't go as planned.
Walter Hughes53 said:Thanks for the correction, though I honestly thought Ćos had sent them off back in 2012 during his retirement transition.
Kenneth Clark18 said:👍 No worries at all.
Back in 2012, Ćos basically looked at the stats and said, "hasta la vista"—America made it to the semifinals.
Walter Hughes53 said:I'm not entirely sure anymore, but I think that specific curse was about the World Cup being held in Spain.
It's just like how some American fans constantly complain about Barcelona or whatever.
Walter Hughes53 said:The result is somewhere in there. Maybe tomorrow when I get home around 6, I'll turn on the Norway-Denmark game, pour myself a light cocktail, and settle in 😁, sort of like an opening act before our semifinal

Who else can brag about this besides us and the French? 🍿
Looks like we're fighting for medals!
It’s giving me major X-Files agent vibes—you know, that whole "searching for truth in a world full of shadows" energy. says:
You’ve gotta hand it to those Canadians for their grit—they played like hell out there. It would be a pretty sweet story if they actually managed to snag the bronze, though. And honestly? I know Vujo would be absolutely thrilled to see them pull it off.😁
Man, the French are actually scary good right now. Even once this veteran core finally hangs it up, they’ve got these young kids coming up who play absolutely flawlessly.🙏 I really thought Omeyer was going to step up and guard that first goal like his life depended on it—especially since this is basically his farewell tour.
I’m also dreaming of an all-American vs. France showdown in the finals—fingers crossed that actually happens. Honestly, I think we can hold our own against them; after all, we beat them in our last matchup during the Olympics just a few months ago.👍 I’m not saying it’s a guaranteed outcome this time around, but hey—we might as well give it a shot, right? Though, obviously, we’ve got to deal with Norway first, and they are a seriously powerhouse team. Personally, I wouldn't mind if we avoided a matchup against the Canadians for the bronze medal; it would be much better to just let them take that third-place spot by playing Norway instead.
