How to message a user with a full inbox?

So, I was just wondering... according to the forum rules, what's the best way to let someone know their inbox is totally full? Like, if I actually wanted to send them a private message but can't get through because of that...

Basically, if someone tries to shoot you a DM while your inbox is already totally maxed out, the system will automatically fire off an email to let you know what happened.

I was thinking, maybe you guys could add an auto-delete feature for old posts? Like, just having it wipe out sent messages after a certain amount of time, or maybe even prioritize deleting outgoing stuff first. Just a thought...

Just because some messages are older doesn't mean they're irrelevant. Honestly, it isn't that hard to stay on top of your inbox and just clear out the stuff you don't need anymore.

I mean, wouldn't it be cool if this forum let everyone hit that 1000 post milestone? Just gave me a thought while I was sitting here.

I’m running into the same issue. I’ve been trying to message someone, but their inbox is totally maxed out. I mean, I assume they’ll eventually notice, right? But just in case they don't, I was wondering if there's some way to let them know—besides just waiting on an automated notification from the site.

I mean, the only way you’re gonna pull that off is if you actually know which threads they hang out in, right? Like, you just find one of their usual spots and casually drop a comment about how their inbox is totally slammed, just like you're mentioning the weather or something.
