Total agreement here. This is easily up there with Herzog’s mirage for my favorite documentary.

This would be perfect for younger viewers looking to shape their cinematic tastes, and for those of us older, it’s a lovely way to remember what cinema is truly about. It's an excellent collection! I tend to ignore Slavoj Žižek when it comes to defining quality, as I believe a healthy individual is perfectly capable of discerning what's good on their own.

Honestly, in the clip I posted, even Žižek is somewhat tolerable and interesting. 😉

I've got 316 Criterion titles in my collection, so now I've gotta narrow it down to my top 10. Tough call.

It’s tough because I know you’d probably swap that list out at least three, four, or five times... just totally reshuffling it without any real order.

When I say I’m picking up a release, don't get it twisted—I don't care about the movie half as much as I care about all that extra bonus material on the disc.

It looks like I can't stream this in the States; is the Criterion Channel unavailable here?

It would be wonderful if they offered a subscription model similar to Amazon or Netflix.

It’s strange, but if I’m not mistaken, nobody has brought up Jacques Beker’s The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. It’s an exceptional film based on the true events detailed in the book by José Giovanni, who was actually one of the participants in those very stories.
