HP 655 audio issues: no sound

So, I’m running into a bit of a headache with the laptop mentioned above. Out of nowhere, the audio just completely died on me. It won't pick up anything—not my headphones, not an external speaker, nothing. At first, I was kind of thinking maybe it was just my internal speakers acting up, but honestly, it feels pretty obvious now that the sound card itself is the culprit. Does anyone have any idea what I should try doing to fix this?

Maybe the sound card drivers just got a bit glitchy—have you tried doing a clean reinstall?

Nah, it’s definitely not a software issue... me and my buddy already tried that... I'm looking for an actual workaround here...
