George Collins37 said:So, it really comes down to choosing between the GTX 1060 or the GTX 1070, right?

Isn't it pretty straightforward, though, if the GTX 1070 ends up being priced the same as or even lower than the GTX 1060...

It’s just this specific model, and it’s only 4GB. Honestly, it’s probably the best bang for your buck, but it’s not a total no-brainer.

Look, that's a refurbished card. If you click the link, it clearly mentions the RMA and shows it only has a 3-month warranty. Honestly? You'd be much better off checking Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to find one for less cash that actually has more memory.🤔

True, obviously. I didn't see it—well, "saw" it three years ago.🤦

If that's the case, this isn't a bad pick for something new:

8GB GTX 1070

Or just go cheaper via New York City with at least a few months of warranty left.

I really need some urgent help here.
My graphics card just kicked the bucket, so I’m looking for some experts to tell me what kind of replacement I should grab.
Here’s the current setup:

- ASUS desktop board,
- Intel Core i7 processor, 2.83GHz,
- My old Nvidia Quadro RTX just died,
- RAM - 4 x 2GB Corsair DDR3 1333MHz
- 1. Samsung 850 Pro 240GB SSD,
- 2. Samsung 840 Pro 240GB SSD,
- Some ancient HDD—honestly can't remember the exact model, maybe a Western Digital 160 or something like that,
- EVGA RM 750x power supply
+ CD-ROM + DVD-ROM.

I mostly use this rig for browsing, watching YouTube, doing a bit of video and music editing, and occasionally running Adobe for photo work.
What would be the best or most optimal choice for this specific build?
I definitely want something more powerful than what I had, but I don't need anything totally overkill.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Buying new or going used?

It really depends... if there's a massive gap in price, I might consider something used... though, honestly, I usually lean toward buying new.

Compared to what you had, you'll just be getting a newer, entry-level GT1030. It won't be a massive leap.

Look, for $400-$167, you could easily score a much more powerful used card. Or, you could grab something a few years old in that price range for $67.

It all comes down to what you actually need, how much cash you're willing to burn, and so on.

So, I was thinking somewhere in the $500 range—$200 though, if there’s actually any point to it, I could probably stretch to $333, maybe even push past that... but like I said before, I really don't want anything that feels like total overkill.
2GB should be plenty, right?

This second one is supposedly a "better deal," but it's total overkill. Honestly, it’s way too much for a build like this—you're better off sticking to something in the same ballpark as the first option but for less cash.

Like an HD7850, which performs pretty close to an RX560 2GB... for about $100.

The RX 560 is basically just an HD 7870 in disguise, I guess.

Yeah, we're looking at maybe a 10% difference there. An RX 460 2GB without a power connector? That's just an HD 7850.

Look, if you aren't actually gaming and you're just throwing money away, just grab a 64-bit card for about $100$50 and call it a day...

Maybe he just keeps that rig for himself—once he’s a little older, it should actually be a pretty decent starter setup for some gaming, right?

Just grab the Nvidia GTX 960 then; I see they're going for about $133 anyway. Besides, your CPU won't even be able to fully utilize it
