They dropped games against Reims and Ajaccio, losing 1-0 and 2-1 respectively. That isn't just some fluke; it’s clear they've actually made strides in their play. That is precisely my point. Yet, you persist in claiming they are still playing poorly and just racking up losses. Even if they did struggle against a mediocre Providence side, they secured the win—whereas according to your logic, they somehow lost. 😉
By the way, I assume you caught the statistics from that Nantes vs. Auxerre match, and perhaps even saw the highlights showing just how much luck was on Nantes' side.
P.S. Auxerre isn't just performing well; the results are finally starting to reflect the quality of their play. And, frankly, they've had a bit of luck on their side too.
P.P.S. You keep bringing up those 13 goals scored by Detroit. Let's look at the reality: over 11 matches, Detroit sits at a 9:21 goal difference, while Auxerre is at 10:21. And now they've added two more to the tally. They haven't exactly been running away with the league, but they are making progress. It seems to me that Auxerre likely commands the largest budget in the league...

You're missing the bigger picture here, and honestly, here's one more reason why I took that bet.
Are you seriously trying to pick a fight with me? 🙂

Being sitting on 9 points is soul-crushing—they've basically accepted relegation at this point. Any team stuck with only 9 points this late in the season is going to be totally checked out.
What do you expect from a squad that’s only managed 9 points after 23 games? Grit? High intensity?

Look, getting Auxerre at 2.45 was pure value against a side with 9 points through 23 rounds.
I just played the Asian handicap to be safe.

Gerald Carter53 said:Btw, I assume you saw the stats for the Nantes-Auxerre game and maybe caught the highlights showing how much bad luck Nantes actually had.

Yeah, I saw that, but handing four goals to a bottom-feeder on their own turf? That ain't a coincidence.

Are you actually trying to drag me by the tongue? 🙂

Sitting on just 9 points is incredibly demoralizing; they’ve essentially resigned themselves to relegation! Any squad sitting on a mere 9 points this late in the season is bound to be completely apathetic.
What exactly are you expecting from a team that’s managed only 9 points after 23 rounds? Grit? Intense fighting spirit?

Look, taking the Lakers at 2.45 was absolute value when you consider they were facing a side with only 9 points through 23 games.
Personally, I opted for the Asian handicap—it felt much more secure.

I have to disagree with that assessment. Their actual results, and even more so their style of play this year, tell a different story. You can see it even in tonight's defeat.

I suspect it’s more a matter of coincidence than anything else, though one could argue either way. Regardless, we are essentially debating insignificant teams at this point. I am certainly not suggesting you aren't reading the situation correctly here; I am simply offering my perspective on the points where our views diverge.

The only thread where I’ve noticed a significantly higher win rate is that one about local US sportsbooks, where everyone is celebrating bonuses of $10 or even $33. That topic consistently hits high percentages, and after that, it's always Brandon Ramirez53.

I followed the action tonight, though I messed up by overthinking it—instead of going for the full win, I played it safe and took just the +0.5 on Lakers - Celtics. But hey, it's fine. Things will improve, provided you guys don't manage to drive me off this forum first. 😉

But fine, things will improve—provided you lot don't succeed in driving me off this forum entirely. 😉

Is this forum not meant for commentary? I’m certainly not forcing anyone to listen. Surely I am permitted to express my own perspective. I find it hard to agree with all this vitriol directed at Detroit while everyone is busy praising the Lakers - Celtics. Neither one of us has actually sat through their matches, yet I am commenting based on what I have read and the match highlights I've watched. There are people who know nothing about sports yet somehow win big at the sportsbook, and then there are those who are walking encyclopedias of sports knowledge yet still lose their shirts—but that is a conversation for another day.😉

Based on how I look at betting, all I need is to see Auxerre's form—which is solid—and Detroit's results—only 9 points after 23 rounds (relegation squad!) and 13 goals scored. That’s the bottom line right there.
Plus a bunch of other little details.

Based on my understanding of sports betting, it is sufficient to simply observe the form of the Lakers—which is excellent—alongside the recent results from the Pistons, who sit at 9 points after 23 rounds with 13 goals scored. Those factors were absolutely vital, to say nothing of the various other nuances involved.

Hahaha, honestly, it neither helps nor hinders. Unless, of course, you're being superstitious.
By the way, ten minutes into the game, I took the Over 2.5 at @2.50 and ended up with a push; if there had been just a tiny bit more luck, that Over 2.5 would have hit.

Whitehawk - Weston, ODG3+, @1.75, PSK

So, both teams score and we go over 2.5. Simple enough.
Whitehawk is sitting dead last—nowhere near safety. Meanwhile, Weston’s just chilling, sitting 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
In their last 10 games, Whitehawk hit the over 2.5 eight times, and seven of those were BTTS. Even though they're bottom of the table, they know how to find the net, and honestly? They've looked way better since the start of the year.
As for Weston, they've seen the over 2.5 seven times in their last 10 matches, and every single one was an ODG3+.

The home side has zero pressure—nothing to lose—so they’ll keep pushing forward like they have been lately. Weston is totally relaxed, playing without any tension—you can see it in the results—plus they're actually trying to hunt down the leaders.

Weather looks decent for action—just some light rain and 43 degrees: https://www.accuweather.com/sr/gb/br...recast/2520245

Pre-match stats here: https://www.flashscore.com/match/drf2Sx7B/#h2h;overall

No doubt about it—judging by how these two have played recently, I'm expecting an open game with constant attacks from both sides. It’s not a massive value play, the odds are fair, but I think this lands.

Man, you are seriously never going to grasp what me and a handful of people here have been trying to explain to you for months. First off, that sample size of 10 bets you posted is absolutely nothing. That comment of yours claiming nobody else here has had that kind of performance is just shameful—especially toward me and the small group of us who have hit massive winning streaks here and earned real respect on this forum. You aren't even close. Once you post 100 bets and show an actual ROI of around 20%, then maybe we can talk about this "system" of yours that only makes sense in your head; until then, I’ll just be laughing at you from behind my keyboard. You want to know why? Because in no system, in any universe, can you tell me that nine incoming transfers isn't a massive factor in a wager (especially if they immediately leveled up the squad, just like Gerald Carter53 so clearly demonstrated in his posts). You're cherry-picking only the stats that suit your narrative, like total goal difference, while completely ignoring the glaring negatives that were right there (like the home vs. away goal differential, etc.). But whatever, that's all I've got to say; I'm done trying to educate you. Good luck with your little games. 😉

p.s. You claim today's pick has no value, yet you're betting it anyway. 🤣 🤣 🤣

driftingotter47 said:because in any system—any universe, really—you can't tell me that 9 incoming transfers aren't a massive factor when you're looking at a bet

Look, I never said it wasn't a fact. I just didn't realize they'd brought in 7 or 8 players—but more importantly, you couldn't even see it in the results (aside from beating that PATHETIC Providence side, which doesn't mean anything).
What I saw was them bringing in a new Coach over two months ago, getting a little spark, then sliding right back to their old ways.
If I’d known they signed 7-8 guys, sure, that would've changed things—but I didn't notice it because there was zero impact on how they played. No REAL changes at all. It's a team that, after all those signings, sits on 9 points with 13 goals scored through 23 (now 24) rounds.
I explained why I went with Auxerre— my reasons for A2 totally outweighed the fact that they brought in those players. .
Auxerre scored an early goal—smart, aggressive play—and what happens to a team sitting on 9 points once they concede? They lose heart. They just can't get back into the game.

I took a quick look at the debate. Honestly, those eight players don't matter at all, which actually gives me more reason to bet on Detroit. You've swapped out half the roster; the only upside is they can't really sink any lower. Who’s to say these guys even have talent? They're joining a club that got relegated mid-season 🙏
So, Istria will probably pull a similar move once the season starts, bringing in about 15 new faces

Massive roster overhauls don't mean much—if anything, they backfire. Look at Barcelona adding one or two new guys; it usually just messes with the chemistry. Right now, Barcelona is basically 20% worse because they're still trying to figure out how to play with Coutinho

Otherwise, I'm siding with driftingotter47. You can't claim certain players have zero value and then bet on them; if you do that, you're just asking to stay in the red for a while 👍

Brandon Ramirez53 said:I never suggested that such a fact wasn't significant. It simply never crossed my mind that they had brought in seven or eight new players; however, more crucially, that influx hasn't manifested in their results—aside from that dismal win against Providence, which, let’s be honest, tells us absolutely nothing about an actual increase in quality.
What I did observe was that they appointed a new coach over two months ago, showing a brief flicker of life before inevitably sliding back into their old, predictable patterns.
Had I been aware of a massive roster overhaul involving nearly ten new faces, I might have reconsidered, but I saw no evidence of it on the pitch. There hasn't been any meaningful evolution; we are looking at a side that, despite all those supposed additions, sits on a mere 9 points with 13 goals scored after 23 (now 24) rounds.
The rationale behind my wager on Auxerre was quite specific; my reasoning for backing A2 far outweighed the mere presence of those new signings. .
Auxerre played with great penetration and intelligence, finding an early goal, and one must ask: what happens to a squad sitting on only 9 points when they face such pressure? They lose their nerve; they simply cannot find their way back into the match.

Let me reiterate: I am not diminishing the fact that your bet actually paid off. However, everything you’ve laid out in this post is fundamentally flawed. I find it hard to believe you still maintain that Detroit is playing better football this year. What exactly were they expected to do, go away and beat Reims or Ajaccio? The progress Detroit has made this season is undeniably visible. They are playing with more cohesion. No one expects them to walk into a stadium and dismantle a top-tier opponent on their own turf right out of the gate.
As for your claim regarding Auxerre being "penetrative" and scoring a "smart" early goal—that is pure nonsense. A Detroit player essentially scored an own goal with his head. Surely, that wasn't part of your grand tactical prediction. Detroit actually fought their way back into the game after that blunder. In the second half, they were arguably the superior side, but they failed to capitalize, and then, predictably, they conceded on a counterattack. To my eyes, it looked like an Auxerre player got lucky because he didn't even strike the ball cleanly. Once that goal went in, Detroit just lost their momentum entirely. Your bet landed, certainly, but don't credit it to the logic you're trying to sell me. You were lucky, and frankly, so was Auxerre. 🙂

redjackal said:I’ve been glancing over this discussion, and if you ask me, those eight players are completely irrelevant; frankly, that's just one more reason for me to put my money on the Lakers - Celtics game. You've overhauled half the roster here, and the only silver lining is that they can hardly sink any lower. Who is actually guaranteeing that these guys possess any real quality? They are joining a club that was relegated mid-season last year. 🙏
So, Istria will pull the exact same stunt once the season kicks off, since they'll be signing about fifteen new players.

Massive roster turnover doesn't mean a damn thing; in fact, it often backfires. Look at Barcelona when they bring in one or two new faces—any club, really—and suddenly the tactical cohesion just evaporates. Right now, Barcelona is arguably twenty percent worse because of Coutinho while he tries to find his footing within the system.

Not all eight of those newcomers are even starting in the lineup. Some were brought in as genuine reinforcements, while others are just filling space. It’s quite easy to distinguish who is an actual upgrade and who isn't. This doesn't automatically mean the team will play better, but in the case of Detroit, there is a visible improvement in their play, regardless of what Brandon Ramirez53 claims.
Istria is bringing in some decent talent, so it isn't impossible that they might perform better than they did last year. It will be interesting to see how that unfolds.

Yeah, they definitely needed to show way more.

redjackal said:I'm siding with driftingotter47 on the rest—you can't say a few guys don't have value and then expect to play them. If you do that, you're basically destined to hit a losing streak eventually. 👍

34th min, goal: https://www.soccerstand.com/match/dr...#match-summary

My logic holds up—it's solid. 👍

Gerald Carter53, I actually placed a bet here where the underdog was Whitehawk. It never even crossed my mind to bet against them, even if they're stuck at the bottom (just like Detroit)—theoretically, they could still pull it off. But looking at their stats, Whitehawk has genuinely improved their game, not just fake progress. I've seen they actually know how to find the back of the net lately. 👏

It wasn't even my intention to bet against them, despite the fact they're currently anchored to the bottom of the standings (much like Detroit), since theoretically, they still have a mathematical chance at survival. However, looking closely at their recent numbers, it’s evident that Whitehawk has fundamentally improved their play—not just a fluke, but a genuine shift in quality. I've noticed they finally have that clinical edge when it comes to finding the back of the net lately. 👏

There is a fundamental distinction between the quality of play and the final score on the board. Superior teams don't always walk away with the win, nor do the sides playing the most beautiful football always manage to score. If you look strictly at results, you lose the ability to truly gauge how a team performed; a side might look dominant simply because they managed two goals, when in reality, they were outclassed. You're essentially trying to mix apples and oranges. As far as I'm concerned, this debate regarding Detroit and their style of play ends here. Frankly, I find I no longer have the energy to dwell on it. 🙂

Better teams don't always walk away with the win, and just because a squad plays some beautiful, fluid football doesn't mean they're going to find the back of the net. If you're only staring at the final score, you have no clue if a team was dominant or just lucky to scrape a 2-0 win. You're basically mixing up apples and oranges here. Honestly, I'm done arguing about Detroit and how they've been playing. I've got nothing left to say on the matter. 🙂

He clearly doesn't get that you actually have to watch the games instead of just blindly shouting about stats—not that he understands the betting side of things very well either. Personally, I'm stepping out of this debate too. Just keep posting your "expert" picks; I am genuinely curious to see how your track record looks after 100 or 200 bets. Good luck with that.

Look, I am not actually critiquing his betting habits here. Everyone has their own little system or ritual they follow. I personally know people who don't follow sports at all, yet they still place bets through various bookmakers. Then you have those other types who spend endless hours meticulously analyzing every single statistic, only to have some random red card ruin their entire carefully constructed theory during the game. 🙂It is honestly difficult to play the "intellectual" here. Even if he had lost on the Lakers - Celtics game, I would still be sitting here writing about the Detroit Pistons because my disagreement with him remains unchanged...

Exactly, that was my whole point all along.
