Back in the day, I thought Kalember was quite the catch 😳 so I’d listen to him alongside The Fossils. To make matters worse, the old folks in my house were total hippies, so I grew up on Led Zeppelin, Creedence, Black Sabbath, and the like. Later on, the Ramones totally blew my mind, I absolutely loved Gopca, and then, eventually, Nirvana happened. 🎉🙂🙂🙂🙂😍

The Doors.
After them, a whole bunch of bands followed that I’ll always hold close to my heart just like they did, but man, those guys were truly the first ones to get me.

They totally hooked me from the jump with 🙂 Back in Black. Honestly, things got a bit watered down after that, and people always complain about them sounding too predictable. But hey, if they hadn't gone commercial, everyone would still be whining about them selling out. Either way, it’s a mess. Legends, though. I remember sprinting home just to watch Family Jewels, doing it every single day... Jailbreak, Dirty Deeds, Show Business, High Voltage, It's a long way... (I must have played that one a million times), Whole Lotta Rosie 🙏, Touch Too Much, If You Want Blood, Walk Over You, Hells Bells, Let Me Put My Love Into You 🙏 🙏...

HIM was the first band I ever truly obsessed over—I was just thirteen when they blew up, and honestly, I’ve never been that "infatuated" with any group before or since 😁. I think the absolute peak of my luck so far was when my parents finally caved and let me head to Washington, D.C. for their show. 🙂

Just thinking back to another killer American band from the 90s; Kojot + Viduka on guitar + harmonica = pure gold 🙂 Man, it’s such a bummer they broke up, but hey—at least they never sold out like, say, Hladno Pivo.

Wild and Crazy

What’s with everyone acting like kids? They all want to be rockers when they should've just stuck to those catchy pop tunes that sounded more like nursery rhymes than anything else from the rock era :P
I was around second or third grade when the Spice Girls blew up, and I absolutely loved them. 😁 My sister was big into BSB, so we basically covered both the girl and boy bands back then. 😁
The first "cool" band I actually listened to was Bloodhound Gang—that was right toward the end of elementary school, haha.

Regarding the post above mine—Kojot + Viduka were seriously awesome. I remember being totally obsessed with "trese lupa udara" at one point. 🙂

Depeche Mode... man, this song right here. That whole relationship and all that love, it’s still going strong to this day...

Other bands are just... well, they're just bands (for now)
And I mean love in such an extreme 😍 sense that whenever I hear More Than Words playing in some movie or TV show, I can't help but tear up.☕

My first love was definitely Dire Straits 😍



They were definitely the first ones I ever recorded onto cassette tapes, bought on vinyl, and everything else... back when we actually had to live life before the internet, MP3s, YouTube, and all that other digital noise...

I probably wouldn't have felt the urge to post on this thread for quite some time, if I hadn't popped an old favorite CD into the player during my drive tonight Far Coast "Mad Sailor Coming to Town" followed by Sušac blues. 🙂 Given that Marijan Ban and I share the exact same obsession with the ocean—and since this was the band that soundtracked the best moments of my youth—I’ve practically treated their gigs like religious pilgrimages since the very beginning, soaking up all that summer madness. It still gives me chills, honestly. They have hearts as big as houses. 😍 I suppose, looking back at local acts, Far Coast is one of the few I truly fell for, back around tenth or eleventh grade. In fact, they were my very first band, period.


As for international acts, well, let's be honest—it was a bit of a mixed bag. 😁
But somehow, I always gravitated toward the classics, specifically hard rock. There were certainly phases involving metal and punk, as well as electronic and pop, along with things like Tajča, Pajči, and that sort of thing. Some bands remain absolute favorites to this day, such as Queen, Straits, AC/DC and Purplovci. I ended up recording far too many TDK cassette tapes that contained, quite literally, everything under the sun. I guess you could say I was pretty versatile. 😁

The Beatles were the very first band I fell in love with, and honestly, they’re the reason I even got into rock in the first place. I was 12 years old at the time, and there was this whole period where I listened to nothing else. Eventually, the Beach Boys became huge for me too. I still remember how I used to save every single cent of my allowance just to afford an original Beatles CD—while everyone else my age was saving up for soda or going out with friends. Though, if I recall correctly, the very first CD I ever actually bought was a Queen record back in '99. Even back then, the Beatles were my absolute favorites. I can still picture myself falling asleep countless nights to their music playing off a cassette tape on some cheap, basic boombox. The sound quality was a total disaster, but man, it was pure bliss. Thinking back to those days always brings a smile to my face. I had my phases, of course—the only bands I went through where I actually can't stand them now are Oasis and Nirvana—and there were times when I didn't spin the Beatles as much, but I always found my way back to them. These days, I don't listen to them nearly as often, but they'll always be at the top of my list. Around age 14, I started getting into Queen. A buddy of mine, the same guy who first got me hooked on the Beatles, gave me a Queen Greatest Hits cassette. To be honest, I didn't even like them the first time I heard them. I remember being convinced their biggest hit was "Flash" because that song was everywhere due to the movie, but I really knew nothing about who they actually were. I can't tell you exactly when Queen surpassed the Beatles for me, because the Beatles held onto that top spot for a long, long time. Even though my taste has shifted more toward hard rock than the 60s stuff, the Beatles remain my all-time favorite band right after Queen.

BIJELO DUGME—they still hold a grip on me even today.

I recall the old workbench—an ancient lamp, maybe back in '76 or '77—and those early memories when I was just five years old. It all started with that song, "That's how it is, baby, when a Canadian kisses you." From there, I just devoured the music—playing, singing, and honestly, I’m still doing both to this day. Nothing hits quite like listening to them or Wild Strawberry.

The first ones I remember loving when I was younger are still some of my all-time favorites: The Doors - Riders on The Storm. These were also staples in my household; I always thought this one was great too: Dire Straits - Walk of Life

I used to be obsessed with them. I don't really spin their stuff much these days—my taste has shifted toward different bands, and honestly, even their newer material doesn't quite hit the spot for me. But still, whenever those old tracks come on? It's an instant trip down memory lane. Whether it's anything from RHCP up through *Stadium Arcadium*, or Eminem's run right up to *The Eminem Show*, it just brings back all those childhood vibes. They’re still absolute classics in my book.😍
