It really comes down to the individual contractor. I know Glushac handles both the technical functionality and the aesthetic side of things, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend him to you even if you were my best friend; I was pretty disillusioned after hearing what some people had to say about their experiences working with him.

Look, if you were actually walking in my shoes, you’d get why I’m spiraling, but hey, it’s nice that everyone else has something exciting going on in their lives besides me.
On this thread, like 90% of the girls just obsess over looks, meanwhile I can't even live a normal life because I can't breathe through my nose. Screw them and their "subjective beauty" nonsense...
Think about all the money wasted on cosmetic stuff compared to what goes toward my medical bills, or how all those unemployed people are essentially paying for everyone's supplemental insurance through taxes! If I could just fix my actual health issues, I wouldn't be lurking here looking for help to stay sane—which is the whole point of this useless thread, yet everyone just talks about aesthetics. 😢

Usually, you go to your primary care physician, explain what's bothering you, and they give you a referral to a specialist. Personally, my doctor handles everything—he even sets up my imaging, so by the time I see the specialist, they already have my scans ready to review. From there, the specialist determines if surgery is necessary. You take their diagnosis and medical history to the nurse, who then schedules the procedure, typically with a six to nine-month wait. They’ll also give you a checklist of all the pre-op tests you need to complete before the big day.

Thanks for the info; things are much clearer now. Regarding my nose, one nostril is significantly narrower than the other, and I've been wanting some cosmetic adjustments regardless. If I go through insurance, will I still have to cover out-of-pocket costs for things like the hospital stay?

I haven't heard much about that clinic where you had your surgery. I actually went to check out their website, but they don't have anything on there—no before-and-after photos, no price lists, nothing. It’s pretty sketchy. 🤷
Can I get some more first-hand info on this? 🙂

Glad to hear the gear is working out great! 🙂

If it's strictly medical, there's no charge. But you'll be waiting forever—six months minimum, likely much longer these days. You'd be in the hospital for five days. I'm not sure they'll cover anything cosmetic; it's usually just for health issues. Then again, some people do get both, but whether that's due to luck or knowing the right people, I couldn't tell you.

It’s been exactly two months since my septorhinoplasty! Thank God and my surgeon—my breathing is incredible and I look much better 🙂
I just hope it stays this way!

Did you just fix a deviated septum, or was there some aesthetic work done as well?

RHINOPLASTY
So, both the septum and the external shape.

You'll likely spend about five days in the hospital. I'm not sure if they'll bother with any cosmetic aspects for you; it sounds more like strictly medical issues. Then again, some people do get those extras done—maybe they had connections or just got lucky, who knows.

Thanks a ton 😉🙂Are you talking about supplemental insurance?

Yeah, think about the supplemental insurance. And don't forget—you can't be on your period during ovulation, otherwise they’ll just push your dates back. Luckily, I started mine two days after ovulating.

To be perfectly honest, I found giving birth significantly easier than what I am currently enduring. Yesterday at 11:00 AM, I underwent surgery to correct a deviated septum, sinus issues, and narrowing of the nasal pyramid. At the moment, I look like a character straight out of a horror movie. Furthermore, the throat pain resulting from the intubation is absolutely excruciating. I actually ended up at the ER just seeking an injection, though even that provided little relief. My nasal passages feel as if they have been filled with acid. The pain and cramping were so intense that I actually vomited blood. Even my husband can hardly believe the state I am in right now.

Looking at stuff like this makes me glad I wasn't in a general hospital... I had a much better experience in the private clinic, though that sore throat and coughing still wrecked me for days.

Not everyone reacts that way. I didn't have any issues—no nausea, no sore throat. Honestly, I didn't even realize they'd performed the surgery. Neither did anyone else in my recovery room.

Quick question: I'm 15 and have broken my nose a few times already. Is that actually a solid reason to get surgery, and how soon could I realistically go in for it?

Goodness, I am so sorry you had to deal with that... I just realized that my own surgery was remarkably painless compared to what you're going through.

My follow-up appointment is tomorrow! I am still looking absolutely ridiculous with all this bruising, shuffling around the house in my pajamas like a lost puppy. It will pass eventually, I suppose. Let's just hope it isn't this bad for everyone else! Best,

Hello. I am planning to undergo rhinoplasty, though I have decided to wait until September. I have no desire to deal with this during the summer months, both because I wouldn't be able to swim and because the heat would be unbearable. I am looking for some insight regarding the recovery process: approximately how many weeks will I be unable to breathe through my nose? Additionally, does the appearance look relatively normal after two months? I understand that the final shape isn't settled for about a year, but I am specifically referring to bruising and swelling. I also need to know when the stitches are typically removed. Currently, my sole choice is Dr. Frank based in Miami. While there are a few negative reviews out there, they are vastly outnumbered by positive ones. A friend of mine actually went to him and stated that if she had to do it all over again, she would choose him without hesitation.

My primary concern is that I feel faint whenever I have blood drawn, so the idea of surgery is genuinely terrifying, even though I logically know that once the anesthesia kicks in, I won't feel anything. My mother insists I don't need this and thinks I'm being irrational, but I know my own mind; I have two bumps on the side and my nasal tip is far too wide. Correcting this would significantly improve my self-confidence 🙂 and, honestly, ever since I started thinking about this procedure constantly, I have felt an urge to touch my nose. I assume that feeling will pass, as I certainly wouldn't want to touch it after the surgery and risk interfering with the healing process.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

The second they pulled the packing out, I could finally breathe through my nose normally,
and they usually take those out about eight days after the surgery.
I think I started moving the stitches around after about 14 days.
As for bruising, I had quite a bit of it, and it stayed visible for about three weeks.
My nose is still swollen, even though it’ll be four months since the procedure
but honestly, I'm probably the only one who notices anyway.
The difference from how my nose looked before was obvious the moment they removed the mold.

Hey everyone, I’m planning on getting rhinoplasty, but I’m holding off until September. I really don't want to deal with this during the summer—between not being able to go swimming and just the intense heat, it seems like a bad idea. I have a few questions about the recovery process: roughly how many weeks will I be unable to breathe through my nose? Also, by the two-month mark, will I look relatively normal? I know the final shape doesn't fully settle for about a year, but I’m mostly asking about bruising and swelling. One more thing—when do they usually take the stitches out? Right now, my top choice is Dr. Frank in Miami. I’ve seen a handful of negative reviews online, but there are ten times more positive ones. A friend of mine actually went to him and told me that if she had to do it all over again, she’d definitely choose him too.

My only real issue is that I get lightheaded whenever I have to get blood drawn, so the idea of actual surgery is terrifying. I’m scared out of my mind, even though I know once you're under anesthesia, you won't feel a thing. My mom keeps telling me I don't need this and that I'm being crazy, but I know I need it—I've got these two bumps on the side and my nose tip is way too wide. Getting this done would definitely give my confidence a massive boost. 🙂 Honestly, ever since I started thinking about this surgery, I can't stop touching my nose. It’s becoming a total habit. I really hope this phase passes soon, because there is absolutely no way I want to be fidgeting with it after the procedure—I definitely don't want to risk messing anything up.

Thanks in advance for the help.

A friend of mine just went in for nose surgery. I’m not exactly sure how long they kept the nasal packing in her, but from what I know, most private clinics usually keep those tampons in for about three or four days. 🙂
Regarding the bruising, that cleared up after about two weeks, but she was dealing with swelling for a good month or two. It wasn't anything major, I guess, but both she and her friends definitely noticed it. 🙂 Her capillaries burst in her eyes too, so the whites looked pretty bloodshot for about two or three weeks. But that’s just her experience—maybe things will go smoother and faster for you. 🙂
