Suggestion for a new PDF format

Dear administration,

I’ve been thinking we might need a new sub-forum where the vibe is a little more relaxed—somewhere we can lean into the trolling just a bit more than what’s currently allowed without everyone losing their minds.

Picture this: you’re having a heated debate about politics, and when someone decides to hit back with that specific brand of "polite" sarcasm we all know and love, they just drop it in the "troll thread."

Obviously, there’d still be some ground rules to keep things from getting totally out of hand, mostly so people don't get banned for straight-up personal attacks.

Honestly, I think having a dedicated space like this would actually lead to way fewer bans and moderation headaches in the long run.

Hopefully, you guys dig the idea and we can make something happen.

Just drop a link, I guess. If they want to steer the conversation that way. Or they don't have to bother at all if the author isn't feeling it—they can just vent their frustrations 'from the heart' instead.

But wouldn't that just be considered spamming on that other original thread? If they do that, the user is basically asking for a warning. And honestly, if that gets them banned and someone here tries to jump in to help, there won't even be anyone left to talk to!

I was thinking, maybe we should look into making this a stickied thread? It feels like it could really serve the community if we kept it pinned at the top. Is there anything more exhausting than dealing with a total troll trying to hide behind a PDF? Honestly, I can't decide if it's just pure laziness or some kind of weirdly specific power trip when people drop a massive file like that instead of actually typing out a coherent thought. Are we really at the point where we need a digital document just to facilitate basic internet arguments? It’s such a transparent move—hide behind a wall of text, hope nobody bothers to download it, and then act like you’ve dropped some undeniable truth bomb. Honestly, shouldn't we be looking at doubling the fines for those kinds of violations? If someone’s out there breaking the rules like that, a standard ticket just feels like a slap on the wrist, doesn't it? We need to be talking about making the penalty twice the actual nominal amount on the citation, just to ensure people actually take these regulations seriously.

It would be reminiscent of those old Hollywood movies: someone insults you inside a restaurant, and then you challenge them to settle the score out on the sidewalk. This approach offers several advantages:
1. Inside the establishment (in a civilized discussion thread), there are no physical altercations; everything remains peaceful because the space is protected as a sanctuary for decent discourse.
2. Those who have a particular urge for conflict can step outside to "fight," allowing everyone to get what they came for.
3. If someone is challenged to settle things outside (meaning, away from the main topic), and they fail to show up, they suffer a minor blow to their ego rather than being subjected to a barrage of trolling.
And everyone wins...

Isn't the whole point of trolling just being a well-packaged provocation—or straight-up an insult to the person you're talking to? You can't really troll someone if they already know you're doing it. 🤔

There are plenty of technical hurdles in this proposal.
