Here I am. Everything went perfectly—hardly any swelling at all and zero bruising. From what I can see under the incision, just the very tip looks super. Now if I could just finally get rid of these pads... honestly, I have no clue what I should even be eating right now. 🙂

They just pulled out the swabs. Ugh, honestly, it was so uncomfortable I almost gagged. The nurse was incredibly sweet and kept checking in on me at every little twitch, but since I’m such a total baby about this stuff, I felt absolutely mortified. As for the symptoms, my nose isn't even running like everyone else seems to be complaining about. It just feels like I inhaled a massive dose of menthol 🙂 and that's about it. I can't wait until they finally get all this gear off me so I can see my face in its entirety again 🙂

super! It seems like everything is going quite "smoothly" for you. Are you still seeing any swelling or bruising? Did they apply one of those masks to you, and if so, when do they take it off? Since I realized you aren't from San Francisco either, I was wondering how long you're planning to stay? How much recovery time is usually required after the surgery?

Hey everyone, since this happens to be my very first post on here!! 😉

Does anyone happen to know, maybe, who performed the surgery on jelen Glišić and Miu Franić?

Same here, who operated on Miu Franic? If there's any solid info, tell me... because their nose looks amazing now, totally changed their face...

I’m just circling back to the questions from my first post

My main interest is whether there are any free surgeries available. I've heard rumors that you can get everything covered through insurance/social services, especially if you're dealing with serious breathing issues
or, if it isn't fully covered, then the price better not be astronomical
Does anyone here actually know how this works? I could use some real info on the situation

Also, if it is covered by insurance, do I get to choose my own surgeon? Even if I have to pay a bit extra out of pocket to pick someone specific, or does the insurance company just assign whoever they want?

Ideally, I'd want to get everything done in one go so I don't have to keep coming back for multiple procedures like some people I've read about on here

How long does the prep work take before the surgery, and how much downtime am I looking at before I can get back into sports?

And finally, if none of the above is an option, what kind of budget should I realistically set aside for this type of surgery?

Look, if I'm repeating myself, it's because I doubt anyone is actually reading all this anyway

Thanks

I went all out with my nose job. We did everything possible: shortening it, narrowing it, repositioning the tip after the reduction, and even adjusting the facial bones on both sides where they meet the nose so it wouldn't end up looking like a literal roof of a house later on.🙂 And I also had naturally heavy eyelids and eyebrows. Not because of age or sagging skin, mind you, but it's just a family trait. My lids were practically invisible under my skin, so my doctor suggested a blepharoplasty along with a slight brow lift. So, that's what I went for. Cut away the excess skin and lifted the outer corners of the brows—I definitely didn't want them arched halfway across my forehead. Given the procedure, I really should have been swollen and bruised for weeks. But, well... here I am. No bruising at all. I’m thrilled! I’ve been at the clinic for five days, and I fly back to Germany tomorrow. They're taking the plastic off tomorrow. Looking at my eyes and this new nose shape, I can say it was totally worth it. I'll snap some photos tomorrow once they peel this stuff off.

Oh, one more thing. It’s not really a mask, per se. More like some kind of silicone strip. It isn't bulky or covered in a mountain of wires, either. It’s just taped right over the nose. I actually spent the whole time hanging out with Tim. Honestly, I just got too bored lying around.

I have no idea.

But honestly, if I had any say in the matter, I would personally see to it that whoever took the stunningly beautiful Mie Franić and turned her into some pornographic caricature with a tiny piglet nose and massive lips would have their medical license revoked immediately.😁

That's exactly my point. Though maybe wanderingnomad13 is just asking so she knows which doctors to avoid at all costs. 😉

Her nose is a textbook example of a doctor who clearly cared way too much about her facial proportions and whether the result would look "natural" enough. It’s such a shame, she was gorgeous.

I had my deviated septum surgery about a month ago.
I’ve still got a few stitches near the tip of my nose and around the nostrils. My doctor told me they’d just fall out on their own, but since they’re still hanging on, I was wondering—how long does it usually take for them to drop?
They feel kind of stiff and scratchy, which gets pretty annoying sometimes.

Overall, things have gone pretty smoothly, except for the fact that the tip of my nose is still sore if I touch it. But from what I've gathered, can that sensitivity actually last for months?

Also, for anyone wondering if you can get cosmetic work done for free:
Besides the deviated septum and breathing issues, I ended up with this tiny little bump as a souvenir from a broken nose.
My surgeon at the local hospital told me they could have easily fixed that earlier without any issues, but apparently, they recently received new orders (maybe budget cuts?) saying they can't do that anymore. Now, they only operate on actual medical necessities, and if you want something aesthetic, you have to go private.
I don't want to discourage anyone, and I'm sure there are still ways to work around the rules and chat with a doctor like people used to, but I just wanted to share what I was told.

Well, Glumičić was the surgeon for jelen Glišić—and honestly, looking at Mie Franić's nose, I’d bet my bottom dollar his handiwork went there too!

Large nasal tip—who should I trust for surgery?
I hate to be a broken record, but I have to ask: has anyone here actually undergone surgery to fix a large or drooping nasal tip and walked away truly happy with the results??
It seems like most people are just dealing with humps, but surely there are others out there facing this exact same issue... right?

So, they basically fixed my "droopy tip" situation—Grbu and taj. Look, my advice? Go get a consultation first. I had mine all lined up, went in for the check-up, and went straight from there to the surgery. If I remember correctly—and it was a while ago—the surgeon told me, "There's going to be a slight issue because the tip is sagging; we'll need to lift and shorten it." Honestly, they did a solid job. I’m super happy with the overall result. I won't claim I have a flawless nose now, but it’s 500x better. Most importantly, since I barely told anyone about the surgery, absolutely nobody has made any comments about me having a "big nose" or anything like that. Look, if you're someone who's totally obsessed with looks and gets hung up on every tiny detail, then go for a consultation and really do your homework. But if you're a clueless guy like me, who just wanted to fix that hooked shape so I could actually feel confident enough to, well, hook up with someone, then don't freak out. Seriously, once the surgery is done, your whole perspective on looks shifts a bit. Before, I was constantly staring at other people, thinking, "Why isn't my nose like that?" or "Man, that guy's nose is huge," but after a while, you realize it’s not even the most important thing in the world. Personally, if you've got the cash, I always say: go for it and get it done. It makes things a lot easier for me in certain situations. Not that I suddenly became a model—I definitely didn't—but it just stopped getting on my nerves knowing people were judging me from the sidelines.

My doctor used the probe to lift them up, but didn't actually touch anything inside my ear 🙂 He just trimmed away what needed trimming, and then my probe settled right where it was supposed to be. I finally took the bandages off. Honestly, I’m thrilled. It couldn't have gone better 🙂

Hey, has anyone here actually gone through a septum surgery at Holy Spirit Hospital? Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to chat privately about it.

Here’s what I’d stay away from:
Private clinics like the ones over on Ilica
-They just give you a bunch of fine print to dodge responsibility when the surgery doesn't work out, so they're pretty sketchy.
Rebro K. B. C M.i.s.l.a.v G.j.u.r.i.ć
-The waitlist there is insane—like 11 months. No sane person wants to sit around waiting through an entire summer and a year just to get seen.🙄
Dubrava K.B.D I.v.i.c.a Č.i.r.č.i.ć 🧐
-Long story short, unless you've been through some serious trauma (I have, but I'm keeping that to myself), it's probably not worth your time.
Zajčeva K.B Merkur L.a.j.t.m.a.n
-I heard from a guy that his sister had surgery done by him, and things went south fast. Looking at the posts on this forum, it sounds like she suffered so much after the procedure that even he felt bad for her. Now she's terrified and doesn't trust him at all; she told me she's absolutely livid because they totally botched it.
Just imagine having to live with that for three years when the results are even worse than whatever you were complaining about in the first place. Be careful. 🤷

I haven't checked out the hospital over on Vinogradska yet, but it looks like everyone else is heading there. ☕
A little tip for better breathing if nothing else seems to be working:
If you've got a deviated septum combined with swollen membranes because of allergies, my go-to move is to pour some saline solution into an empty spray bottle. Tilt your head back for about two minutes until the solution hits the back of your throat, then blow your nose. If that doesn't cut it, do it again. It really helps dial down the irritation and significantly reduces the swelling in the turbinates and everything else inside. Honestly, I'm surprised by how well this works for me. 😁
I felt this sudden burst of energy today, not entirely sure where it came from. I can't even imagine how hyperactive I'll feel once everything is fully functioning. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Anthony White3 said:I actually quit using nasal drops about a year before my surgery. My doctor didn't even realize I'd been using them, but honestly, it didn't matter because he could see the deviation immediately. I went through the system at the local University Hospital—if you have supplemental insurance, the surgery ends up being free. You stay in the hospital for five days post-op, then they pull the tampons out and you're out the door. From the outside, you can't tell I had anything done; there wasn't even any bruising. The only annoying thing left is these crusts that get pretty large and settle in deep, making them a pain to blow out. After getting discharged, I just stuck to some Maxitrol drops and Flonase spray. I think mucotome is just removing the mucosa, but I'm not entirely sure why they bother doing that part.

Hey, so my sister, who works at the community health clinic, mentioned last year that they scrapped supplemental insurance coverage for people who are unemployed.
That basically means after all these free checkups, I'm going to be staring down a massive bill for the remaining appointments,
like those ten standard ones, the anesthesiologist, and then this damn surgery? I don't know where I'm supposed to find that kind of cash :S. Even the nurse at the University Hospital was acting surprised and lecturing me about having to pay co-pays when I don't even have a job right now 😢 (I've got state insurance through the unemployment office, so it should cover everything)
And here I am, acting like a total idiot trying to navigate the hospital system for months just to dodge fees, but I'm terrified the price tag is going to hit me like a heart valve surgery did...
Btw, I'm also heading to the University Hospital in three months. I'm in the same boat as that guy from four years ago who took a pretty heavy hit to the face during a workout 😢, so it looks like I'll need to check if my unemployment benefits include supplemental coverage this year and figure out what these guys are charging. Honestly, I'm losing my mind; everywhere I turn, it's a dead end. To top it off, I've started getting these heart pains, muscle cramps at night, and I can only sleep on my left side, which I read is bad for you... It feels like I'm just waiting for things to go south. 😢

Patrick Robinson7 said:Hey, so my sister mentioned something to me last year while she was working at the local clinic—apparently, they’ve started cutting off supplemental insurance coverage for anyone who's unemployed.
So that means I’m going to be stuck footing the bill after all those paid consultations? On top of that, I still have to deal with whatever follow-ups they've got lined up for me at the local clinic.
Ten anesthesiologists, a dozen nurses, plus some surgeon performing a full operation? Where on earth would I get the budget for all that? It’s ridiculous. To make matters worse, I had a nurse complaining to me about having to pay a co-pay when I wasn't even working. Absolute nonsense. 😢 I've got white health insurance through the unemployment office, and that’s about it.
I’m sitting here like an idiot, staring at the hospital bills and wondering how I can get through months of this without going broke. At this rate, the sheer cost of everything is going to give me a stroke—just like that heart valve surgery.
By the way, I’m heading to the Holy Spirit in March as well. Honestly, I’m right there with ivanjan76—I took a pretty heavy hit straight to the face about four years ago. 😢It looks like I’m going to have to head down to the stock exchange to ask about supplemental insurance rates this year. Honestly, dealing with these providers is enough to make me lose my mind. I can only hope things shift in my favor for once, but I don't know. Everywhere I turn, I hit a brick wall. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve actually started feeling chest pains, and I’m dealing with muscle spasms in the middle of the night. I’ve even been forced to sleep only on my left side, which—if I read correctly—is terrible for you. At this rate, I’m basically doomed. 😢

I sleep on my left side most of the time too. I had no clue that was supposedly bad for you. I’m also interested in those options through social services, but obviously, everyone posting about that is loaded. They haven't had to give it a second thought because they just ask their dad for the cash and call it a day.
Those of us without those kinds of options should just shut up and take it.
Everyone I talk to keeps insisting that getting an op done through social media is totally free, but honestly, that’s what worries me. I’m concerned the surgeon might cut corners or do a sloppy job because they aren't actually getting paid for it. It's a weird situation—they want to fix it up, but they also want to shorten it by at least half. It just doesn't sit right with me. 😂 He might just end up getting his ribs cracked because of all that boxing.
It feels like nobody here is actually willing to share their real experiences because everyone’s basically bought into some polished, corporate PR version of the truth. If you want to be blunt, just tell us where the cheapest option is and where they’re ripping people off. Also, how long can they legally dodge accountability once the deal is done? 🤣I’m training Muay Thai, though I'm taking a break from it at the moment.
