I’m leaning toward the Oklahoma vs Memphis under (194.5) being a solid play today, especially since they're running headfirst into a Memphis defense that is absolutely suffocating. If you factor in Westbrook's tendency to force shots when things get frantic, I wouldn't be surprised if their offensive rhythm just completely falls apart. It's worth noting they only managed 92 points in their last outing against Detroit, which feels like a telling sign. On the flip side, what are your thoughts on Westbrook over (21)? He tends to rack up volume by taking a million shots, and honestly, even with a mediocre shooting percentage from deep and a few trips to the charity stripe, he usually finds a way to hit that mark.

Nicholas Barnes57 said:I’ve been lurking in this corner of the forum for quite a while, but I finally decided to jump in today. Just taking a quick glance at the board, there seem to be a few decent picks: Philadelphia vs Detroit 1, Boston vs Utah 1, Milwaukee vs Indiana 1, Golden State vs Atlanta 1...
I think Philly should handle a weak Detroit. Boston looks great right nowβ€”that last win over Chicago was solid. Milwaukee seems to be finding their rhythm too, so they should take care of an injured Indiana side. And Golden State should probably beat an Atlanta team that isn't looking too sharp... odds might sit around 6... That's just my initial gut feeling. I'll write more once I actually sit down to study the matchups and the injury reports properly.πŸ™‚

Personally, I’d steer clear of Utah. They have a pretty decent roster this year, and honestly, not many teams look like a safe bet against them, especially if they start leaning heavily on Milsap, Favors, and Jefferson on the court.

In my opinion, Harden should go over his total today; he's getting plenty of shots, and when he faced tougher defenders before, his average dipped, so he might bounce back with a 30+ point night. Lin should also go over. The only real risk is if they don't end up winning by a massive blowout.

Alright, I put together some analysis for my parlay and figured I'd share it here to see what you guys think. Let me know if I'm missing anything obvious or if anyone has some smart insights to add. Basically, I'm looking atWalker 17.5 +, Harden 22.5 +, Dragic 15.5 +, Miami 98.5 -, and Oklahoma 100.5 -. You probably all know who's playing where, so I won't waste your time with useless details. πŸ™‚

James Harden over 22.5 @ 1.85

He’s basically the Rockets' entire offense, constantly hunting down about twenty shots a night. You just have to take the over on a guy like him... He's already burned me twice, and while he might go half-and-half some nights, sometimes you just hit a slump when the defense gets aggressive.

Milwaukee vs Indiana – 1 – @ 1.57

Indiana was pretty disappointing yesterday; they had the game in their hands but just lacked any real direction or a go-to player on the floor. You can really feel the absence of Granger. Meanwhile, Milwaukee is playing lights outβ€”they only dropped games to Boston (in a tight one right after those guys won) and a great Memphis squad. I don't see how Indiana pulls an upset here.
On the flip side, the Pacers have been struggling, dropping games to Charlotte and Atlanta along with three other losses. Again, I think Milwaukee takes this, maybe even covering the spread at Pinnacle if you're feeling bold at -4 @ 1.926...

Honestly, that 189.5 point line for the Golden State vs Atlanta game feels way too low. Like, who actually thinks that's happening?

Warriors (172,198,224,186,178,188 + 20 in OT)
Atlanta (211,199,175,184,166,182)

The margin was clearly based on the actual scoresβ€”you can't argue with the stats...

Banana, why are you even betting those matchups?..

M. Ellis (Milwaukee) over 18.5
He’s playing SG alongside Jennings, who averages about 36.3 minutes per game. He takes roughly 19.5 shots a night, shooting 39% this season. I guess he’s got decent three-point range, plus speed and aggressiveness getting to the rim. He's hitting 80% from the stripe on about 6 attempts per game. Tonight, Indiana might lean on Hibert and West for rebounding, which could put Sanders and Dalembert in foul trouble. That might leave Jennings and Ellis to finish those plays themselves. The line feels way too low to pass up the over.
Maybe also consider
Garnett (Boston) 15.5 over
West (Indiana) 16.5 over
Pekovic (Minnesota) 15.5 under
Griffin (Clippers) 17.5 over

I mean, what do I know? Minnesota is basically half-strength right now, and Walker is probably going to be the best player on the court, so I feel like they should go over that line. Everyone seems to be riding with Harden, but honestly, he needs to shoot better; I think 23 points is way too low for him, especially leading a squad against New Orleans. New Orleans is solid, but I still think Harden is going to have to carry the load. Dragic was absolutely killing it last game against Denverβ€”and Lawson, who I don't even know, but whateverβ€”anyway, I think he's on the rise and will likely be the standout player against Chicago, especially since he's lethal from the free-throw line. The Clippers and Miami always scrap and things get physical, so I don't think there'll be that many points, specifically from the visitors. At least that's what history shows, or at least what I remember seeing. Plus, Miami hasn't looked great lately, especially against the top-tier teams. For the Oklahoma vs Memphis game, let's go under 100.5. What can I tell you? Memphis is one of the best defensive units in the league, and OKC is struggling big time with their shooting because Westbrook just isn't hitting anything and is burning through possessions... so yeah... who knows. A small stake isn't a bad idea. We'll see; there's still time to decide which one might blow up in my face...

Kirilenko (-14.5) Minnesota vs Charlotte @1.85
If Minnesota actually has any hope of pulling off a win tonight, Kirilenko is going to have to step up, take about 15 shots, and play exactly like he did against Dallas when he dropped 16, because they're missing Pekovicβ€”who just put up 20 in a win two days agoβ€”along with all these other guys who have been sidelined with injuries. Plus, he’ll probably have to log over 40 minutes since they don't have anyone else capable of playing small forward besides Williams, and honestly, the guy has been absolute trash all season.
I also wouldn't bet on Kemba clearing that 17.5 line either, especially since he's facing Ridnour, Swerdrup, and likely Lee for part of the game, and none of them are defensive wizards, particularly those first two who will be out there most of the night.

I’m also highly skeptical that Charlotte covers this spread. Minnesota -7.5 vs Charlotte @1.85, and whether Minnesota even stands a chance depends entirely on how much Ridnour struggles and if Williams actually shows up. It’s true they've had their best start since 2001, but with only nine guys on the roster and two of them being completely useless, I really doubt they'll pull off anything memorable today, so maybe a Bobcats win @3.20 might actually be the move. β˜•

I’m totally with you on this one. Last time I caught him at 11.5 and it went over without much trouble, and now Pekovic is out and they’re facing a weaker Charlotte squad.

I guess I finally pulled the trigger on this single.
Philadelphia vs Detroit under 187.5 @1.85
We've got two defensive-minded squads here. The home team is likely missing their best guy, and he'll be out for a while tooβ€”yeah, I'm talking about Bynum. They're also without Kwame, so they're looking pretty thin at the center position. These guys usually put up just under 91 points a game and mostly grind out wins through some solid team defense, which isn't exactly shocking since they don't really have a massive superstar carrying them. On the other side, the visitors are one of the rougher teams in the league, averaging only slightly more than 91 points per game themselves, and they lean heavily on defense too. Stuckey and Corey Maggette are both questionable for tonight. All things considered, this looks like a matchup between two defensive units, so it’s no surprise that the odds dropped to @1.70 over at Supersport and even saw the line move down to 185 over at Pinnacle.

Since you're new here, please just read the intro post for this thread and check out the subforum rules. If you had, you wouldn't have just dropped a list of picks without saying a word about them. Explaining your reasoning isn't "stupid."

edit:
Just realized someone asked you why you picked those specific lines. πŸ‘
That's what I'm asking you. πŸ‘

It looks like Supersport is trying to pull a fast one by canceling Kirilenko's bet. This has happened to me a few times nowβ€”they’ll list Min-Ch for him, then switch it up to Min-Cha for Walker. I really hope I'm misreading this one.

With Dwyane Wade dealing with that knee issue and Horford fighting off some kind of intestinal bug that will likely land him on the bench, I really think we should look at taking the under for their matchup.

Can you just double-check how solid that actually is? Where'd you even see that? I'd appreciate it. πŸ™‚

Dwyane Wade missed shootaround on Wednesday due to a sprained left foot, so he's a game-time decision for tonight's matchup against the Clippers.
