It’s almost like you summoned this review... cards that launched at roughly the same price point (with the 9800 gt actually being more expensive) will obviously be playable at 1280x1024 if the FPSi stay decent on high settings... assuming you aren't trying to run Call of Duty / Halo / Battlefield.☕

Anyway... when it comes to playing demanding titles, the 9800 gt has become pretty much irrelevant over the last few years.😬

Honestly, I’m perfectly content with where things stand. In fact, I actually find myself preferring lower resolutions sometimes—there’s a certain charm to it that higher settings just can't replicate. If anyone needs proof that my setup isn't obsolete, I can easily rattle off a list of 256 different games I've successfully played on an 9800 over the last two years. It gets the job done just fine.

If you think that one is enough, then why on earth are you even looking for something better?🤷

You were asking about getting a beefier card for $167, then they actually found one, and suddenly you're acting all big and tough like you can run every single game on yours now? Like your current setup is suddenly enough? I honestly don't get the point. Either buy the new card or just stick with what you've got. Son.

Andrew Fox74 said:First, you were hunting for a card more powerful than yours to handle $167, then suddenly you start acting like a tough guy claiming your current setup can run anything you throw at it. I honestly don't see the logic here. Either commit to buying the upgrade or just stick with what you've got. Grow up, kid.

Listen, you absolute clown, you clearly need a crash course in basic reading comprehension and logic. I was originally setting aside some cash for the Skyrim HD texture pack, but once I realized how much of a resource hog that would be, I decided to pivot my budget toward the Shark instead. You're being ridiculous.

Maybe take a breather and cool off for a second? You really ought to work on your vocabulary and the way you put sentences together, because honestly, it feels like nobody can even understand what you're trying to say.

So, I'm looking for a graphics card for a buddy of mine—he wants to crank everything up to the max settings. I actually have an HD6770 lying around, and when I popped it into his rig, it handled everything perfectly... but you can't find anything with those exact specs in stock anymore. His current setup is running an AMD X2 3.0 MgH 4 with 4GB of RAM, and he’s currently struggling with an hd5450, which is basically useless these days—especially since he's still rocking an old CRT monitor. He was thinking this one might be enough to get him back to playing on max... or maybe you guys have a better suggestion.

What do you mean they aren't available?

The GTX650 and 7750 are pretty much on par with the 6770.
Maybe even the HD7770 if you want something slightly better.

Honestly, just don't even bother with 128-bit cards...

How can you be so indecisive about playing at such a low resolution? If you actually tried running anything at Full HD, there isn't a single modern game that card could handle.

If 128-bit cards are really that bad, how do you explain the HD7770 being more powerful than the GTX 280, which is 512-bit? 🤦

The HD7770 actually beats out the Nvidia GTX 650... better FPS, and they're priced the same...

Alright, good day. I'm planning on picking up a decent graphics card sometime soon to replace my current setup, which is just a Radeon HD 5450 512. I have a strong preference for ATI (basically AMD) cards—don't ask me why, I just like them better. I'm definitely no expert here; this is actually the first time I've ever gone shopping for a new GPU, so I’d really appreciate some help and recommendations. I'm looking to drop about $700-$300 on this. My current CPU is an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5700 3.0, I've got 6 GB of RAM, and a 400W power supply. If you need any more specs, let me know—like I said, I'm a total newbie at this. I live near Austin, so it would be ideal if I could find something locally. I've been eyeing this one, but I'm not sure if it's actually worth the cash or if there's something better out there..
If there happens to be an Nvidia card that's significantly better than any ATI option at the same price point, then I might consider making the switch. 🙄

Good call, you might as well grab it there.

If you can scrape together another $50 or so in the near future, you should definitely grab this one.

Even though that card doesn't require a specialized power supply, it would be better if you could let us know which one you're currently running—like the specific brand or model—just so we can be 100% sure it’ll handle the upgrade.

I looked into this one too, but based on some mediocre reviews I came across somewhere, it felt like a waste of money to pay $100 more when there's another option sitting right there. That said, if spending $100 more actually gets me something significantly better, I might reconsider... assuming it's actually worth the jump. For context, my current power supply—which I honestly think is pretty weak—is a Pentium MS - 400 ATX P4, 400 W, 230 V, 5 A, 50/60 Hz.

The HD7770 is definitely a step up, though I guess the real question is whether your processor can actually keep up with it. Still, it’s probably a solid choice if you're looking ahead.

As for that power supply, I'd honestly swap it out sooner rather than later, especially if you're planning on running the HD7770.
