And if I just stick with that HD7770, will my current power supply handle it? Because if I have to factor in a new PSU on top of everything else, we're looking at roughly $567 total, which is honestly more than I want to drop right now. I don't really need some beastly graphics card since I'm not playing anything crazy demanding, especially not on high settings. But then again, having something a bit beefier would be nice... so I’d much rather keep the whole thing around, say, 800 - $300

Look, it'll probably be enough for now, but just a heads-up—that power supply is pretty low-end and you should probably swap it out soon...

Yo crew, let's hear it! I need a GPU recommendation. Price isn't an issue here—I just want something that can crush every game out right now and anything coming down the pipeline on max settings. I don't want to be kicking myself in two years because the value tanked five times over. Thanks!

The AMD Radeon HD 7850 is, I guess, a bit of a steal if you find it right.

Which HD 7850 are we even talking about? If I recall correctly, there are like 11 different versions out there, and they definitely don't all perform the same or carry the same price tag.

If I were you, I'd just grab the one with the beefier cooler and a longer warranty.

Sure, but does the difference actually matter when you're looking at $700 versus $567? I feel like it’s better to just bite the bullet and go with the more expensive option—it’s bound to be better, right?

If you're playing at 1080P

Comes with a 3-year warranty

If you want the 2GB version, go with this

Or maybe this one (3-year warranty plus some beastly cooling🙂)

None of this matters if the rest of your rig can't actually keep up with the GPU.

Exactly—you can't really pair a high-end card like an $667 with a weak CPU, because the processor just won't be able to keep up with the graphics... Besides, we're talking about a dedicated gaming card here, which obviously needs a rock-solid, high-quality power supply rather than some cheap budget unit you'd pick up at a 😁Walmart

So, I’ve got this MSI H61M-P22 (MS-7680) motherboard sitting on my desk, and I'm looking at picking up an AMD Radeon HD 5670 to get things running, so I was really wondering if anyone could tell me if this specific graphics card will actually fit and work with my current board?

Sure thing—but hey, just a heads-up for next time: try not to drop the exact same question across multiple threads. It gets a little redundant.

Alright, no worries, I won't do that.

So, what's my best bet for a GPU to grab for my
?
AMD Athlon II X4 640, AM3 socket, 3.0GHz
M2N32-SLI Deluxe
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...eless_Edition/

Look, I know this setup isn't exactly top-of-the-line or anything, but honestly, I just don't have the cash right now to go out and swap out my motherboard and processor.

Thanks!

I realize it's probably not the best setup, but I don't have the budget to upgrade my motherboard or processor right now.

Thanks.

The processor is decent enough, though the motherboard isn't much to write home about. Anyway, what kind of budget are we looking at for the card? How much are you planning to spend? Also, I need to know exactly what power supply you're running—brand and wattage.

Oh, right, the power supply is actually a Corsair CX 500. I totally thought it was some Nvidia card for a second because a buddy told me this motherboard works better with Nvidia gear. Anyway, I was poking around looking at stuff like

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desk...eforce-gtx-560

or maybe an AMD Radeon HD 6870

something in that general ballpark, unless there’s something even better out there. I really want whatever will give my processor the best boost, you know? Just trying to get the most out of what I've got here.

Quick question for you guys.... So, here's what I'm running right now...
Intel Core 2 Duo E4600
nVidia GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB
5012 MB RAM DDR2

Lately, though, things have been getting glitchy—games are stuttering and my FPS in Call of Duty has absolutely tanked (if you play, you know the struggle). I was wondering, would upgrading to a better GPU—maybe something with 1GB, like a newer Radeon or GeForce—actually make a difference with this setup? Is it even worth the cash? 🙂 Thanks!

Go with the AMD Radeon HD 7850; if you ask me, it's easily the best option in that range right now.

I wouldn't drop below 7770 myself.

Alright, thanks. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Should I be sweating the fact that my Corsair CX500 isn't on this list? I mean, the specs say a 500W PSU should be plenty, but still...
