QUESTION: Has anyone else dealt with more than just the "standard" mucosal damage after a procedure? I mean, has anyone experienced a situation where the mucosa was completely gone in certain spots, leaving you looking directly at the cartilage?

How do you even fix that? 🤷 Does that kind of thing actually regenerate over time, or is it just a permanent deal?

Let me clarify what I’m asking: Has anyone else had their wound split wide open after getting their stitches removed? In my case, they took the sutures out and everything seemed fine at first, though I noticed a little bit of a hard bump in that area a few days later. They tried to reassure me yesterday that it was just scar tissue or a slight lack of mucosal coverage in one spot. But today, I can see that the entire incision has pulled apart, and I can actually see bone 🙂

I honestly don't know what to do, and it's already 🙂

Adam Patel98, I honestly don't even know what to say... good luck with all that, whatever it turns out to be...

Anyway, I have a question for everyone here—is it okay to email Tončić photos of my nose to ask about potential procedures and pricing? I know you can do that with Dr. Glusac, but his whole thing with charging for consultations is a bit unpredictable, and he seems to manage his own inbox quite strictly...
From what I understand, the replies to inquiries for Tončić are handled by his nurse, and since he usually charges for consultations anyway, I'm just wondering if he’d actually want to answer specific medical questions like mine over email? It feels like it's essentially asking for a consultation without one...
Has anyone else tried doing this?

I have no idea what to do and it's already the weekend 🙂

Standard practice is to do a closed incision that isn't visible from the outside using absorbable stitches that stay in and just dissolve on their own. You shouldn't be seeing bone under any circumstances, even if the stitches part—at worst, you might see some cartilage. Since I don't know what specific technique your surgeon used for the rhinoplasty, you really need to consult them. Give them a call on their cell right now.
p.s. Your nose should end up being fine.

Has anyone here actually tried this?

No matter which surgeon you end up choosing, feel free to ask anything. I'm sure plenty of people here have the exact same questions, whether it's pre-op or post-op. 🙂 I'm happy to help. 🙂

How do you fix this? 🤷 Does that part eventually grow back or what?

Normally, those gaps close up on their own over time. How long has it been since the surgery?

I'm just not sure if he'd actually respond to an email like that instead of doing things through an official consultation... so I wanted to check if anyone else here has ever tried reaching out to him that way? 🙂

Edward Robinson70 said:Usually, a defect like that closes up on its own over time. How long has it been since the surgery?

It was a closed technique, a septorhinoplasty. It’s been two months since the procedure. At the very beginning of my right nostril, the deformity is still pretty obvious—it looks like a ridge of cartilage climbing up toward the septum. I had this massive piece of cartilage there originally, and the surgeon removed most of it, but not enough, so it still doesn't match the left side at all. That whole ridge was right there. Then, about two months in, I developed an infection. My surgeon ended up pulling out the stitches and said things would improve after that. They were supposed to be the dissolvable kind, but he had to take them out; up until then, only one stitch had come out naturally. He even drained some pus from the area. However, five days after that, everything just sort of split open, and now I can see the cartilage. I might have mislabeled it in a previous post—called it bone when it was actually cartilage (my mistake). Tomorrow, I'm heading to a public hospital just to get someone to look at it and maybe offer some advice. I'm honestly not sure what to do, especially since my surgeon won't be available for at least the next month. 🤷 I sent him an email, but since it's the weekend, I haven't heard anything back.

Emily Martinez12 Asks:
I was wondering if I could just send some photos of my nose directly to Dr. Tončić. Maybe I could ask him what he thinks needs to be done and get a rough idea of the price.
I'm not really sure if he’d actually want to answer this over email instead of during our consultation, so I figured I'd just ask around here. Has anyone else ever dealt with him that way? 🙂

In theory, it should work out fine. If the photos are actually decent and reliable, the results shouldn't look all that different between the pictures and reality. The only real headache is that some surgeons just want to squeeze money out of you during the initial consultation. Personally, I’ve reached out to a few doctors in places like Chicago and New York since getting around isn't exactly easy for me, and most were pretty polite about it. Some weren't even shy about giving me a price right away.

That’s exactly what I’m getting at... 🙂 I know Tončić charges for consultations, so I was just wondering... would he even be willing to give me an answer over email regarding something like this...?
Well, before I go ahead and send him an email—which honestly feels like I'd just be embarrassing myself at this point—I figured I should probably check in here first and see what you all think... 😉

Before I go emailing him and feeling like an idiot, I figured I'd ask you guys here first. 😉

As for whether he'll actually answer, only he knows that. 🙂

Before I go embarrassing myself by firing off an email to him, I figured I'd check in here on the forum first. 😉

He’ll give you an answer, sure, but it'll be super vague. Honestly, his emails to everyone are probably just the same old copy-paste job. And wouldn't you know it? He'll always end it with some line about how you need to book a full consultation if you want any real info.

Hey there!
You can totally email him. I did it myself, and I got a response after a few days (could have been him or his sister, honestly no clue). He actually asked me to send over a photo of my nose—taken from about two feet away and then zoomed in—so he could give me a concrete idea of the procedure and the cost. Based on that, he should be able to give you at least a rough estimate of what he'd do and what the price tag looks like...

He will, honey. He’ll definitely get back to you—he gave me really detailed replies to several of my emails, so just go ahead and send them over...

So, I finally sent him an email to see if I could send over some photos first... you know, just to get a better idea of what my options actually are and what the damage might look like regarding the cost. They got back to me and said sure, go ahead—they just need two shots, one from the front and one profile view
Anyway, I just wanted to keep you all in the loop 🙂
Though, they did mention that the price listed is strictly for the aesthetic side of things $4000... and I remember another woman on this forum who went to him for an aesthetic rhinoplasty and ended up paying $9,000... so I'm really hoping that $12,000 figure is just a rough estimate that might come down a bit 😁

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads-up 🙂
though they mentioned the price is strictly for aesthetic stuff $4000. One woman on here had an aesthetic rhinoplasty with him and paid 9,000... so I'm crossing my fingers that this 12,000 is just a ballpark figure that might actually drop.😁

He gave me the same estimate: 12 $0.00 plus 3 $0.00 for tip projection. I was honestly relieved thinking the total would be around 12,000.

So, how does this work? If they're already charging for lifting the nasal tip, wouldn't it be logical that the tip ends up slightly higher anyway? And honestly, what's the ballpark price with him? I'm totally lost here.

Ashley Wells16 said:So, if they're doing the tip lift too, why are certain parts being billed separately? It just seems illogical—if they're lifting the tip anyway, shouldn't that be included? And honestly, does anyone actually know what his ballpark pricing looks like? I am completely lost here.

Look, prices aren't going to be identical for everyone—nobody has the exact same nose or the exact same set of issues.😉 For instance, removing a tiny hump on one person is a completely different job than dealing with a massive hump that spans half or even the entire bridge—and that is exactly why the costs fluctuate so much.😉

I just got back from my Rhinoplasty... and honestly, the whole experience was just horrific. Let me tell you, having those Tampons removed? The pain is absolutely indescribable. I mean, sure, once everything settles down and the pain fades, it’s easy for people to say "Oh, it wasn't that bad, you'll forget all about it," but let me tell you something—having those things pulled out felt like an endless flood of tears for me.
And then there's the swelling. My nose is just massive right now; I can't even begin to wrap my head around what my actual face is going to look like.
Before the surgery, everything seemed perfectly fine; I just had these tiny little bumps that you could feel if you touched them, but they weren't even noticeable to the eye.
Everyone keeps telling me, "Just wait until the swelling goes down, it looks crooked now but it'll settle," but every time I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I have to turn the lights off because I just start sobbing from the sheer sight of it. 🙂
It feels way bigger than it ever was. It's wider, and the tip? It's like a literal ping pong ball sitting on my face... oh God, save me. 🙂
