Hey everyone, I’ve got an idea for those of us who find ourselves hanging out in the banned corner a bit more often than we’d like—maybe we could put some pressure on the admins to give us a chat feature while we're sitting in the FBI zone, just so we have a way to talk about whatever.

The thought actually hit me after spending three days straight just staring at the walls waiting for my ban to expire. Even guys in federal prison get to talk to one another, so why should we be left out, unless we're already out on parole?

What do you guys think of the idea?

I honestly came up with this because I was bored out of my mind waiting out a three-day suspension. Even guys in federal prison get to talk to one another; why shouldn't we be allowed to chat, unless we're already out on parole?

What do you all think?

Proposal denied.

The whole point of this forum is discussion. The whole point of a ban is to cut off communication because someone went off the rails. What's the point of a penalty if we just let people keep talking in the FBI section?

The whole point of this forum is actually talking, isn't it? A ban is supposed to stop people from chatting when they're being irrelevant, but what’s the actual utility of a penalty if we just let the discussion run wild on the FBI thread?

Look, the idea is just to make the time pass a little faster, maybe have some human interaction without it blowing up the rest of the board. It's really not that deep.

What’s even the point of keeping inmates in a cell together if they aren't allowed to socialize at all?

Maybe give the proposal a second thought?

Serving a ban is basically just being put in time-out. A forum is built for talking, so if you’re banned, it means you’ve been cut off from everyone except the mods. It really just gives you a moment to sit back and wonder why you ended up in a spot where you aren't allowed to speak.

So, it’s a no-go. Deal with it.

I’d really like to get the other mods and the admins in on this proposal. To be honest, one particular mod just isn't sitting right with me, and I don't exactly trust their take on this. Maybe we should pull a small council together and hash it out properly.

Look, the forum admin already told you it’s a no-go, so that’s really that. I mean, there's no way a supermod is gonna try and push back against the admin, right? 🤷

Alright, I’m not really sure what all their official titles are or how many admins they actually have running the show, but is rustydrifter10 an admin too?

Do you seriously think an admin would just shut something down out of nowhere without, like, a) checking with another admin first, or b) knowing how the rest of the management team actually feels about it?

Hell no, they wouldn't.

I honestly figured that was just his own take on things rather than an official stance from the site.
What’s the harm in casting a vote?
Let the majority decide, right?

I’m not an admin, but I definitely stand against banning people from chatting on the FBI forums. Like Daniel Ward87 pointed out, one of the whole points of a ban is to stop someone from posting and engaging in discussions with the rest of the community.

The whole prison comparison just doesn't hold water because the goal of prison is to remove someone from society, not to physically block them from communicating with other people—and that part actually happens. Besides, if we're really going to talk about prisons, they have solitary confinement too. 😁

rustydrifter10 is an admin over in the red section, so you're basically gonna end up with the same result anyway 😁
And yeah, honestly, that’s probably not even the smartest move, I mean, why even encourage people to get themselves banned? It just doesn't make any sense if you think about it.

And honestly, pushing people toward getting banned isn't exactly a winning strategy either; there's no point in encouraging folks to get themselves kicked out when they're just trying to hang out.

I get that if you're one of those people who never actually finishes things on the "one" side, it doesn't matter much, but for those of us who find ourselves stuck in that loop a bit more often, having that would be incredibly motivating and feel like a real step toward moving past it.

What's even the point of voting?
So, why doesn't the majority just make the call?

Just a heads up—whenever you see me posting in blue, that’s not my own take; it's just the official word from the admin team.

One of those... 😉Another thing we could aim for would be...

Honestly, looking back at your track record, you've been sidelined more than a few times. I’m not sure if being put on ice like that actually helped you get your head in the game or stay motivated.

I don't see any point in dragging this out. The proposal is rejected. 🙂

Honestly, looking at your whole "body of work," you've been getting flagged more often than not, and I’m not sure if that’s actually doing anything helpful for your growth or motivation.

I don't see any point in dragging this out further. The proposal is REJECTED. 🙂

Uncle Sam

It would’ve been motivating and actually helped me grow if I was talking to someone on my level, but instead, I just end up soaking up three days' worth of pure frustration—and honestly, what’s the point of getting banned if you're just walking away even more worked up than when you started?

Honestly, Brian Edwards6, maybe just sit this one out—they’re people too, after all.

Why should I stay quiet? The people being banned—usually after multiple offenses—are the very ones who have been degrading the quality of these forums for ages. At the end of the day, does the perpetrator matter more than the victim?😕

The victim is also being targeted by bans due to biased and unfair moderation.

If someone actually messed up, they were punished for that specific reason—so what exactly is your problem with their little chat over at the corner? Hmm?
