Fine, I'll just tackle this myself, and if anyone has a better idea, feel free to chime in. I picked up an AirLive access point today. It comes with a 2db antenna. My plan is to mount that antenna somewhere by a window and run a cable back to the AP. This specific unit can handle up to an 18db antenna, which I assume should be plenty. Eventually, I might upgrade to something even stronger, maybe a directional one.
For the time being, I'm going to connect to the AP via a LAN cable. Later on, I plan to grab a Wi-Fi router to hook up to the AP so I have Wi-Fi coverage throughout the apartment. That's the main goal—getting things like my laptop and phone connected...
If anyone thinks this setup is a total disaster and has some actual suggestions, please let me know.
Also, I'm wondering if there’s any software support available for these kinds of setups?
And how exactly will I go about selecting the network I want to join?
Hopefully, I'll have this whole project wrapped up by the end of the month...🙂
