Look, any time you're dealing with a conversion—it's just physics at this point—you're going to see some loss in quality. It's basically unavoidable when you're working with compressed video.

It probably won't be better; if anything, the quality drops slightly after converting.

With the MP4 files, the subtitles play totally fine. Just answering mistyotter35's question.

Anyway, thanks man. Grabbed that Ford format and flipped it over to AVI. Works like a charm, pretty happy with it.

As for that whole subtitle/mp4 mess—not sure about you guys, but mine wouldn't even load until I converted the whole video.🤷

If you're watching on a laptop, honestly, all that converting is just a massive waste of time, and frankly, I suspect it even degrades the video quality. Just watch your movies using VLC Media Player (the portable version) and stop stressing yourself out with all that unnecessary converting, encoding, and whatnot.
