And I guess all of those are cases that wouldn't even get a CT scan here in the States. 😁

Oh, and just for context, the Glasgow Coma Scale goes up to 15 (I've actually had a lower score myself), but since these were people with the highest/best scores, it means over half of them still had a pathological CT (meaning it wasn't clear). 😲

Generally speaking, a mild TBI is classified by a GCS of 12-15, moderate is below 12 (down to 8), and anything below 8 is considered severe (down to a minimum of 3).

But seriously, can someone please explain to people that a CT scan isn't just some harmless little thing you go in for whenever you feel like it... there's radiation involved, after all.

Yeah... even if it’s ten times the radiation of an X-ray, that doesn't justify the risk if there's a chance of something fatal...

On a side note, I had a bit of a wipeout on my bike recently, and they ended up putting me through the wringer with ten X-rays and every other test imaginable—just to be absolutely certain everything was fine before they'd let me leave the ER...
Kudos to the trauma team, though... even if I did lose the whole evening, and didn't exactly land the number of a cute young doctor! 😢

I had the exact opposite experience; I ended up getting into a bit of a back-and-forth with my surgeon at the end.😁

After all this time, the odds of any kind of real recovery are pretty much nonexistent.

It's just awful. I feel terrible for Jules.

By the way, whenever I read people glorifying the old-school dangers of Formula 1 in other threads, I honestly feel like throwing a dart at them. 🙏
