It’s a long shot—but I suppose one should never say never...

Yes, that's exactly what I mean...
Lisa Davis10 said:Now, 2007 and 2008 were actually quite brilliant—tense, unpredictable seasons—but it’s a stretch to Expect every single year to live up to that standard..

And if they actually were... well, what we saw today was practically a suicide mission through an ambush...

We spend the whole off-season counting down the hours until the start, and then... nothing. Total letdown. I honestly miss the old refueling days—that was the only way we actually saw any action. Now? If we see one or two overtakes, we’re supposed to be thrilled.

Actually, there were plenty of overtakes. I think there might have even been 30 during the race. Statistically, this could have been better than any race from last year.🤣
But the director was a complete idiot and totally trashed the broadcast.🙄

only Kubica and Adrian Sutil had about 15-20 overtakes on track.🙏

Honestly, I'm probably better off having missed the race 😁...

Congrats to the Ferrari fans out there, though I was really pulling for my guy on the podium 🙏🙏

Deep down, I think I subconsciously knew this was how the top four would shake out 🤷

MDA... tons of overtakes... I bet Bernie will use that to shut up his complaints about how boring the race was. Tons of overtakes statistically... doesn't matter if they weren't important or if nobody even saw them☕

that’s honestly why I don't even bother with preseason stuff. maybe I'll glance at something small if I'm bored, but nothing much more than that. 😉

It’s a slim possibility, though I suppose one should never say never...

If we look back, 2007 and 2008 were truly incredible, intense, and unpredictable seasons, but it is quite a stretch to Expect every single year to live up to that standard..

That is very true; looking at the last decade, there were really just those two standout years, along with that fantastic season when Fernando Alonso secured the championship for Renault ahead of Kimi Raikkonen.

If I may, I’d like to offer a brief suggestion regarding what might be done to make Formula 1 more engaging:

"lift all bans and restrictions" 🙏

Michael Lee4 said:MDA... so much overtaking... Bernie will definitely find a way to stop complaining that the race was boring just because the stats show plenty of passing—even if none of it actually mattered or anyone even saw it happen.☕

Exactly.🤣

Watch them start hyping up these new rules, acting like there was some massive battle for the podium.😂

Go ahead, crunch the numbers:

Overtakes:
Fernando Alonso 3 - Felipe Massa 2
Fernando Alonso 2 - Sebastian Vettel 1
Felipe Massa 3 - Sebastian Vettel 2
Lewis Hamilton 4 - Sebastian Vettel 3

Four overtakes fighting for the podium? When was the last time we saw that? I can already hear Bernie's press releases coming.🤣

If he’d actually had more downforce through that middle sector, Jenson Button probably would have overtaken Mike—or at least, that’s what people are saying.😬 ) ...😉 If it wasn't for... if it wasn't for...🤔

That middle sector absolutely wrecked them all weekend. If it hadn't happened, I'm pretty sure the race would've ended quite differently...

Let them find another "legal" loophole for that issue first, then we'll see what they actually bring to the table. 🙂

Yeah... according to what Whitmarsh said in his interview: He reckons that the team thought that the bumps in S2 were going to be ground down after Friday, and that their set-up factored that in. And that they didn't give themselves enough downforce in S2....they just completely missed the mark on the setup🤷

Regarding Kubica... the man is a top-tier talent, pure and simple. If Hamilton hadn't pulled strings to block his move to McLaren, this season would be delivering a rare, high-stakes internal rivalry within one of the heavyweights.

The Best F1 driver said:Instead of inventing some new kid every single season, they should just ban every single track designed by Tilke and call it a day.

I don't think the track is the issue here.
Rule changes have basically forced everyone into the exact same tactical playbook.
Up until now, you could actually play games with tire strategy or fuel loads. Pit stops used to mean something—there was actual drama there. Now? Not so much.

Drivers are just churning out identical laps, and today's finish is a perfect example of just how much faster some cars and drivers are than others.
Take a few tenths per lap, multiply it by the total number of laps, and there you have it.
The gaps are massive, which doesn't leave much room for anyone to get excited about "unpredictable racing."

A veto? Honestly, Kimi should’ve been behind the wheel instead of Button if the managers hadn't gone overboard with their demands... Now, deciding whether Kimi Räikkönen or Robert Kubica was the better driver is really just a matter of personal taste. 🤣

There’s been plenty of chatter about this lately. Honestly, as much as I might admire Kimi Räikkönen, I suspect Lewis Hamilton would have found things significantly more difficult if he were paired with Robert Kubica.

Duh, it's Vettel.
He proved he’s got championship stuff in him—crushed qualifying, drove a flawless race, and then even with a busted car, he kept the pace up just to scrape whatever points were left.
Feel bad for little Vettel though—just zero luck.

Schumacher—to quote Lauda—is gonna need a few races to "find his rhythm" (if he ever does), so we won't really know how much gas is left in the tank for him for another two or three rounds.

Btw, the US broadcaster had me cracking up right before the start when they claimed "this might be one of the most exciting F1 seasons ever"—like, yeah, sure.
Also, regardless of how important the points are, I think it was honestly pretty tacky seeing those Ferrari and McLaren guys celebrating while overtaking a broken-down car. It just made them look weak.

Just wait, they’re going to start praising these new regulations because of how intense that battle for the top three spots looked.😂

If you look at the numbers:

Overtaking:
Fernando Alonso 3 - Felipe Massa 2
Fernando Alonso 2 - Sebastian Vettel 1
Felipe Massa 3 - Sebastian Vettel 2
Lewis Hamilton 4 - Sebastian Vettel 3

Four overtakes during the fight for the podium? When was the last time we saw that? I can already hear Bernie Ecclestone getting ready to make his usual statements about it.🤣

True, Vettel's struggles have actually helped boost those overtaking statistics a bit.
But anyone who really follows Formula 1 doesn't just stare at a spreadsheet; they watch what's actually happening out on the asphalt. And today, there was hardly any real action to speak of.
