Claiming to be the premier, smartest, most organized—the absolute best—music festival in the entire region usually just triggers a wave of hate rather than actual praise. It’s almost predictable. Yet, in just five years, the T-Mobile Coachella has managed to pull off the impossible: it captured the chaotic, anarchic energy of a spectacle like Lollapalooza, paired it with the massive marketing muscle of a giant like Lollapalooza, matched the flawless organization you'd see at a major German festival, and wrapped it all in a seaside vacation vibe. Now, they're actually brave enough to plan for the next five years, praying that this recession finally decides to leave the US alone.

So, here we go: someone bashing Lollapalooza while singing praises for the T-Mobile Coachella. 😁

Man, I’ve been waiting forever for the Foo Fighters to finally make their way out toward Washington, D.C.... They’re dropping a new album this spring, and once that’s out, they’ll be hitting the road to tour all over the States, and I see tickets are already live for the Southside and Hurricane festivals in the Midwest, plus the Idrho festival over in Italy, with everything slated for June. Given how much they've been tearing up the festival circuit lately, it wouldn't even surprise me if they ended up playing a show here in D.C., though who knows... they aren't cheap... but honestly, they're worth every penny 😍

Anyone catch a recording of Massive Attack from the festival?
The whole set aired on local TV.
I didn't record it, nor did I even watch it.

I suppose it’s becoming pretty much a certainty at this point that they've officially signed the Air Force, especially considering that Lollapalooza just dropped their announcement today. 🙂

Yeah, I mean, given that there’s already been some significant chatter floating around about the FBI being involved at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, I suppose I’m inclined to believe this is just further confirmation that those rumors were actually onto something. 😁

Come on now, let’s not start spreading all that gloom and doom right here...🙂

🙂

I won't, but I'm still holding out hope they don't actually bring them in.

So, here we have someone tearing down Lollapalooza while acting like the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is the second coming... 😁

A Burning Man style vacation by the coast? 😂

It looks like those local organizers in Los Angeles have really managed to pull the wool over everyone's eyes this time... 😂

Besides, there were tons of bands at Lollapalooza last year—I’d say Crystal Castles and Faith No More stood out. Everyone was acting like they were definitely showing up, but nope, they didn't...

Just like how people in the Midwest were hyped thinking Nirvana would show up.

Well, they didn't.

Same goes for The Flaming Lips.

And both those bands absolutely killed it.

Both of them.

I'm all for The Black Eyed Peas! 😢
They might be at Lollapalooza... there's a slim chance they could show up...😢

Honestly, I’d just be happy if they released the ticket prices and maybe one or two headliners to start with

Man, I hope you get to see them. Honestly, we probably need to give Pete Wentz a makeover too, along with the CEO of CNN.

honestly, why even bother? they'll probably just book some cheap local acts
or maybe one big name who had one decent hit back in the day and wanted to tour but couldn't because of some global crisis,
so now they'll just swing through DC and grab some greasy burgers instead.

the whole thing feels like some cheesy commercial for those old mobile carrier ads.

Does anyone happen to know when the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival might finally drop the lineup... I was wondering if anyone had any insight, though maybe I'm being a bit silly asking, since I don't really grasp how the whole process of booking acts for these massive festivals actually works 😉

If I remember correctly, they usually start announcing things around April... though I can't say for certain.

Nah, actually—we get the fifth performer in April. Tickets drop first, then the headliners follow about a week later—it's always a bit of a trickle, really—and the full lineup doesn't wrap up until a month before Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Who knows, though? They might just throw us a curveball this year.🤷

For last year's festival, I think the initial ticket price peaked at around $1,100—actually, wait, I don't think they even hit the $1,200 mark!
The first round of confirmed attendees came through right at the end of January, but after that? Man, things just slowed down significantly...

oops, my mistake...

I know they’ll start dropping those big announcements toward the end of May—it's usually pretty quiet until then. Honestly, though, I'm just a little surprised the tickets aren't even on sale yet...🤷

Ugh, I’ve got this nagging feeling that the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is going to be absolutely massive this year. Tickets are flying off the shelves already, and honestly, we're all just going to end up in a giant group prayer hoping Portishead actually shows up. 😁

Bravo! Truly.

I stand firmly with the FBI. I was actually out in NYC this past November.👍
