Microsoft Word: Questions, Troubleshooting & Solutions

So, here’s the deal—since I spend quite a bit of my time working in Microsoft Word, especially when I'm playing around with images and trying to get all the aesthetics and formatting just right, I’ve run into a bit of a snag... I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix those awkward, massive gaps that pop up between words when manual editing isn't an option? It usually happens when I insert a picture on the left side of the page and then wrap the text around it using the justified alignment setting. Suddenly, there are these huge, gaping white spaces stretching across the lines, and honestly, it’s driving me a little crazy!

Just turn off the justify setting. If there isn't enough text to fill the line, the software stretches the spacing so the last word hits the right margin...

Look, you could always try reshaping how you write your text. There’s always another way to frame an explanation. You can aim for something shorter or go longer, just adjusting where the line breaks hit so when you move to a new line, it doesn't look like there's a massive gap between them.

I’ve run into an urgent issue: I'm trying to insert a few images into my document. I found them online and pasted them directly into the file, but they absolutely have to be exactly 3cm x 3cm. When I go to Format Picture -> Size and manually input those dimensions, the image just shrinks to some random size instead of what I actually typed. It's nowhere near the target. Why won't it stay at the size I set? What am I doing wrong?

I even tried saving them from the web to My Documents first, then copying them into Microsoft Word from there to adjust the sizing, but I get the exact same result. Help! This is pretty urgent since I'm finishing up a term paper that's due very soon... any ideas?🙏

I'm working on a term paper, and I need to hit a minimum of 5,000 characters, including spaces. Now, I can't exactly sit here counting every single letter and symbol one by one to see where I stand. Is there an easy way to check this on a computer? Maybe if I copy the text into Microsoft Word and save the file, it will show me somewhere? I think I heard once that one character equals roughly one byte or something like that... Does anyone know?

Tools>word count>just click that, and a window will pop up containing all the data you're looking for.
