I don't know much about power supplies, but why is this 520W unit so much cheaper than these ones ,
I get that quality matters, but still...
😁

Basically because that PSU feels like a tin can. You'll be lucky if it even pulls a steady 200W without dying...

Yo, this PSU gonna handle this GPU, this CPU and this RAM??

Yeah... honestly, just grab the Intel Athlon II X3 450. You can probably bump it up by 100MHz with just a couple of clicks in the BIOS, which saves you $20 😉
.
And as for the Radeon HD 6770, you could pick one up for less than those $253, and it’ll actually perform better.

Which one am I looking at now? All of these are Radeon HD 6770s I tracked down, but only GPU 6 and GPU 7 are cheaper. Are they actually any good, or should I just go with the one I linked, the HD 6750?

Radeon HD 6770 (V2) vs. Radeon HD 6770

Which one should I go with, the V2 or just the standard version?

Which one should I grab—the V2 or the regular one?

Go with the V2... they're the same price, so you might as well get the newer revision of the card.

What's the deal with your integrated graphics? 😁 You could probably get by with something like this ASUS 870-C 45

Man, this thing is pricey. 😁
Is there anything a bit easier on the wallet?

Everything will fit on that board of yours, don't sweat it 🙂 though don't go expecting a massive upgrade path, especially regarding the CPU...
It looks like this:
ASUS M5A78L-M LX MOTHERBOARD, AMD 760G/SB710, DDR3, AUDIO, VGA, D-SUB, PCI-E, G-LAN, CROSSFIREX, MATX, S. AM3 / AM3+
$127
Intel Athlon II X3 450 BOX PROCESSOR, S. AM3, 3.2GHZ, 1.5MB CACHE, TRIPLE CORE
$186
PC-10666 MEMORY, 4 GB, Corsair Vengeance, 991769, DDR3 1333MHZ
$45
PCI-E VTX3D AMD Radeon HD 6770 GRAPHICS CARD, 1GB DDR5, D-SUB, DVI, HDMI, HDTV
$241
430W POWER SUPPLY, CORSAIR CX SERIES V2, COR-CMPSU-430CXV2EU, ATX2 V.2.3, 120MM FAN
$117
TOTAL: $715

I went with a single 4GB stick of RAM just so you actually have an option to upgrade later. 🙂

I went with a single 4GB stick just so you have room to add more later.🙂

Ah, thanks!
Quick question though—what’s the deal with this Corsair Vengeance stuff? Is it any good?
I was actually leaning towards grabbing some Crucial instead.

Usually, you get more bang for your buck with cheaper RAM—better value and longer warranties... unless, I guess, you're the type to overclock everything just to chase benchmark records 😬

Look, I'm definitely not overclocking. 😁
So, are you actually suggesting this Mushkin Essentials kit, 4 GB, DDR3 1333MHz?

I noticed a ton of people pointing me toward this motherboard instead of the one I originally linked, and honestly, it's cheaper too. 😁
But which one is actually going to give me more room to upgrade later on?

Both are AM3 + boards, so they’ll handle Bulldozer chips, but honestly, they’re pretty weak. They only have 3+1 phase regulation and lack USB 3.0, SATA3, and those fancy features 😬

I wouldn't recommend any kind of overclocking on them; I suspect they'd struggle even with a 125W CPU running at stock speeds. 😉

I wouldn't even dream of trying an OC on these; they'd probably start sweating just trying to run a 125W CPU at stock speeds. 😉

I'm definitely not looking to risk anything with overclocking, but I figure thinking about better boards now might make future upgrades easier.😁
What kind of prices are we looking at for these boards?

This might be the best-buy AM3+ board out there, if you consider the 990XA-UD3

Or maybe the Asrock 870 Extreme3 Rev.2.0 is the better budget pick. It’s pretty similar to what Gigabyte offers, though I guess that weaker 4+1 power delivery might hold back your overclocking just a little bit.
