Me again 😁
Just wanted to pick your brains—a buddy of mine claims this power supply actually outperforms that one
. So, which one should I finally pull the trigger on? 😁

I'd go with the LC instead, $17 fewer connectors to deal with, plus the Corsair CX series isn't exactly top-tier anyway (even the v2

+1 😛

Just open up the PC and check the sticker, man. There isn't really any other way to know.

What are your thoughts on this power supply:
550W POWER SUPPLY, LC POWER SILENT GIANT GREEN POWER, ATX2 V 2.2, 140MM FAN

I’d probably go with this instead: 460W, LC POWER Silent Giant GREEN POWER LC6460GP3 V2.3, 140mm vent.

Actually, I was looking into that 460W model, but it turns out they're out of stock at the retailer I wanted to use. I assumed the 550W version would be identical in quality, just offering a bit more headroom. $10 It's more expensive, though.

I guess the EVGA SuperNOVA 500 W might be a slightly better call, since it’s modular and has active PFC 🙂

It isn't the GeForce 3 model, so I'm not sure how much better it actually is. Honestly, I might even say it's worse than the other one.

True. Either that, or maybe grab this while it's on sale:

Hey everyone, I’ve got $100 on hand right now and I’m thinking about picking up OHT this power supply. To be honest, I haven't really heard of this brand before—it probably doesn't hold a candle to something from Corsair, right? Still, what do you guys think—will it actually handle my HD 6950 2GB card without any issues?

Fair point. Either that, or I should just grab this while it's on sale at Best Buy:

Ah, I see now—it’s not the same version! 😁 I've heard quite a few people praise version 2.3. I also heard XFX was solid, but it's slightly more expensive at Portio than the sale price at Best Buy. I suppose I still have some time to weigh my options. I watched a YouTube review for that EVGA SuperNOVA 500 W, and the guy mentioned the unit feels incredibly light, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. He admitted that himself. Unless, of course, this Enhanced version is somehow updated.
Maybe I'll just wait until the GeForce 3 v2.3 is back in stock; it has active PFC as well.

Hey there.

So, life has thrown me a bit of a curveball, and I’m being forced to move my PC setup into the bedroom.
The thing is, this current rig is loud enough to be a nuisance, and I can't exactly get any sleep while it's humming away. Since I pretty much leave it running 24/7 to handle all my constant downloading, I really need to find a power supply that won't sound like a jet engine taking off in the middle of the night.
My wife isn't exactly thrilled about the constant drone, either—she’s been giving me quite a hard time about it.

If anyone could point me toward a dead-silent PSU, I’d appreciate it. Here’s what I’m looking to power:

CPU: E2140 @ 3.4GHz
GPU: ATI 3850 512MB
HDD: 4 drives (80GB, 120GB, 250GB, 320GB)
RAM: 2x 1GB Apacer 1066MHz
2 x SATA DVD burners

Thanks!

What does weight even matter? It's not like you're going to go out and fight someone with it. 🤣

All that matters is the performance (the quality)...

Corsair Cx 430W. You sure that 3850 isn't gonna be loud?

I'd go with this one instead:
though if you can swing a few extra bucks:

I'm not entirely sure—right now I'm running a 400W unit and my 5770 handles everything just fine. But honestly, I'm wondering if it can actually handle an AMD Radeon 6950? Everyone keeps telling me I should probably have at least a 500W power supply, but then I noticed you're using a 400W one...

Do $100 you won't find anything smarter in the budget section, and I doubt that Office Edition actually packs 550W... If you can swing a few extra bucks for the Strider, it’d probably be worth it.

I honestly don't know if I'm speaking Turkish or if you're 😁
Why on earth would I drop cash on a 400W power supply when I already have one sitting right here?
Regarding that office model—I mentioned I’d stick with it because HERE it clearly states you need something better than 500W, yet you keep insisting on pushing that 400W unit on me.

No, my dear lazy scientist, in the world of power supplies, the formula is simple: quality equals price.
Putting an AMD Radeon 6950 on a power supply lower than $100 is 🤣
And failing to read a single thread about power supplies is just being cheap.
