Hey there!

Can anyone suggest a good alternative to Nero 9? Just like Nero 8, it takes forever to actually open up. I’m looking for a lighter burning suite that won't lag, but still delivers the same quality as Nero.

Thanks!

Ashampoo Burning suite 9
isn't just an alternative; it’s actually superior to Nero

Just "go ahead and buy" (hehe...) Ashampoo Burning suite 9... once you try it, you'll see exactly what I mean. Honestly? It blows Nero out of the water because it isn't cluttered with a bunch of useless crap.

If you go ahead and install Nero 8 lite, I guess the interface won't feel quite as cluttered. 🙂

Even the lightweight version of Nero 8, which is only about 27 MB, doesn't lag like some other software. Plus, Nero 7 Premium runs just as smoothly.

I think CDBurnerXP is pretty solid.

I’m inclined to agree with Noah Miller6—Ashampoo is a fantastic alternative. Honestly, it’s top-tier!

So, before I even checked out your replies, I went ahead and installed Ashampoo Burning suite 9. Honestly? I’m with you guys—it beats Nero any day. It’s way more straightforward, doesn't come bloated with all that extra junk, and actually has everything you need for burning. Most importantly, it isn't sluggish like Nero 9 or Nero 8.

Thanks for the input 👍

Look, Nero isn't slow at all—not if you actually stop installing all that extra junk you don't need!
I'm running Nero 8 on my machine right now, but I kept it lean: just the Nero burning ROM and Nero Express, nothing else. Honestly? It pops open way faster than Ashampoo, which I’ve got sitting on my drive too.

I've never had an issue where Nero failed to burn something correctly, but man, I have definitely run into problems with Ashampoo before. 🙂

I second this.

I’m running Nero 8—just the Nero burning ROM and Nero Express installed, nothing else. It launches way faster than Ashampoo (which I also have on my machine)

I’ve never had an issue where Nero failed to burn a disc properly, whereas Ashampoo has definitely let me down. 🙂

And I honestly have to agree with that.🤣

There isn't any Ashampoo burning studio 9 listed, but I bet it would crack the top 5, if not the top 13.

I've just got Nero 8—only the burning ROM and Nero Express installed, nothing else. It actually pops open faster than Ashampoo (which I have on here too)

With Nero, I've never had an issue with a bad burn, but Ashampoo has let me down before. 🙂

I gotta admit, I've had Nero fail on a burn once or twice, but it was super rare. My main gripe is how sluggish it’s become. Regardless of whether my PC is a potato or not, it’s just slow to launch. And don't even get me started on installing or uninstalling it. Feels like it takes forever. Ashampoo needs a slightly beefier setup—maybe a little more CPU juice—but it runs much snappier.
Nero 8 and 9 feel way too slow, whereas version 7 used to be a pain to uninstall.
Anyway, that's just my take.🙂

And honestly, I was looking at that first one, but according to the site (Mininova), you have to download over 2 GB just for the trial version...😁.............NOT

Exactly. I finally pulled the trigger on Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate, and the download is currently crawling along at about 300-400kbps. It won't take forever, but I honestly can't wait to get my hands on it!

Mark Sanchez3, you’re going to regret this eventually...
Seriously, what kind of bloated, useless software is 2.3 GB? It's ridiculous.
I installed this for a buddy, and honestly, we had to get pretty drunk just to pass the time while waiting for the installation to finish.

Damn, this software is massive—it's like 2.3 GB of pure bloatware...
I installed this for a buddy, and we actually managed to get hammered just waiting for the installation to finish.

It doesn't matter; honestly, I could use the extra work right now, so don't worry about me😁. At least I'll have something "legit" to mess around with. I'm not saying Ashampoo hasn't been unreliable lately, but whatever—I'm done messing with Nero, so consider this a fresh start.🙂

Voila!
I just finished installing Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate, and I have to say, the interface is great and the feature set is impressive. Everything worked perfectly, exactly as planned (...you know what I mean...)
😁
