I had to start a whole new thread just to vent about this one website... Honestly, it’s not even just that one site, I’ve noticed the same pattern popping up in a few different places lately. I make it a point to stay on top of everything coming out on DVD, and I’m genuinely wondering if anyone else has caught onto this weird glitch in the matrix. A huge chunk of these "New on DVD" listings? They don't exist. Seriously. I’ve checked everywhere—online retailers, local shops, you name it—and half the stuff listed isn't even in stock or available for rent. I'm talking about big titles like the A Nightmare on Elm Street collection, American History X, Seven, and so on. It makes zero sense. I’ve double-checked, too. Some of these movies were supposedly released like six months ago according to the sites, but there hasn't been a single trace of them since. No shipments, no updates, nothing. Just total silence. If anyone actually knows what's going on with these phantom releases, please... I could really use an answer here...

Look, when a site like IMDb says a movie is out, I know it’s actually hitting theaters. If you can't find it listed elsewhere, that isn't some failure of the database—it's just a reflection of how much the US distribution system struggles. This thread shouldn't be called "IMDb updates," it should be called "Where's the damn movie?" or "Why is American distribution such a mess?"

I have to admit, I’ve noticed the same thing,
but it seems like distributors are tipping off news sites
about movie releases hitting the US market well before video rental stores even get the chance to license them,
and honestly, some titles probably don't get picked up at all.
Specifically, I checked with my local Blockbuster regarding A Nightmare on Elm Street
and they couldn't give me a straight answer.

Alright, fine, you got me there. I messed up the thread title. But regarding this whole "verified release" thing... it clearly isn't true when there are actual movies supposedly out that are impossible to find here because they just don't exist in stock. I actually got a little excited today seeing news that they released Street Fighter on DVD. Now the real question is whether that'll follow the same pattern or if it’ll actually hit the shelves and rental stores. As for American history X and Seven, I actually went as far as calling Blitz on the phone back in the first month specifically about those two, and they told me: "We've released them, they'll be on sale by the end of the month." And since then? Nothing. Not a single trace...

From what I can tell, the titles listed in that archive aren't just limited to what we actually got on DVD here (even if they claim they are). It looks like they include stuff that only aired on TV, too. Usually, for those kinds of movies, you'll see the original studio listed under Publisher/Distributor instead of a local US company like Paramount or Warner Bros.

I checked their website, but there’s absolutely nothing listed... Maybe they have them for sale in-store but just haven't bothered to update the site yet...

Honestly, Profilo Net is an absolute disaster, much like those algorithms everyone loves to complain about! Half the titles listed in their store aren't even available on the actual site. By the way, I caught a review in the Evening News this morning for the first four entries of the Stravas series, and they’re hitting video rental stores this week. It's highly likely they'll show up on Profilo Net or through the algorithms pretty soon too.
