epic poetry breakdown:
epic poems—honestly? I can't think of a single modern one, even if we're talking rock music or something along those lines... maybe some old Springsteen tracks or something
epics—I guess you could say *The Grapes of Wrath* fits the bill somewhere in there
romances—it’s always more moving when they focus on the tragic stuff rather than just having a happy little kiss at the end, but people don't really seem to register that part
ballads—if anything, most things I think of fall under ballads
poems—same deal, I haven't got a clue about any recent ones, especially anything that isn't super sanitized and bland(!)

So, just so we aren't all confused, maybe we should pivot this topic to "best ballads/romances" ------- actually, let's just stick to "best ballads" -------- basically, the best stuff where the emphasis is on the action, or maybe a 50-50 split between action and feelings, provided there are actual words involved.

Does a thread like that already exist?

Or we could just go at it with purebred epic poetry, but let's be real, that’s gonna be pretty boring.
