Hi... I need some help.
A few weeks ago, my scalp issues flared up again. It’s mostly around my ears and forehead, though it's starting to spread toward the crown. It shows up as red patches that peel—looks like heavy dandruff at first, but then it just leaves these red spots behind.
My doctor prescribed Advil gel. It helps for a moment; I apply it and the redness fades, but by the next day, it's right back, regardless of how often I wash my hair.
I want to know how to get rid of this for good. It keeps coming back year after year.

Any advice would be appreciated. What should I do? Thanks.

A few weeks back, my skin started flaking up again... specifically around my hairline near my ears and above my forehead (though it’s starting to creep onto my forehead too). It looks like these red patches that peel off, making it look like I just have crazy dandruff, but then they leave these red spots behind.
My doctor prescribed Advil gel, which seems to work for the moment—I apply it and the redness goes away—but by the next day, it's right back there regardless of how many times I wash my hair.
How can I get rid of this for good? It tends to flare up periodically throughout the year.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. What should I do?? Thanks!

Skin flakes? To me, that sounds more like seborrheic dermatitis or maybe psoriasis. Have you actually seen a dermatologist, or is your primary care physician trying to play specialist? Usually, Advil is used for things like seborrheic dermatitis, often paired with specific medicated shampoos, but if I were in your shoes, I'd definitely go see a real dermatologist instead of guessing.

Yes, I’m planning on seeing a dermatologist, and this time I mean it. Honestly, I can probably find better guidance online than by visiting my own doctor, who just hands out diagnoses without even performing an exam... something that seems to be becoming all too common lately.
Thanks so much for the response and the help!!!!
