😬 This guy is clearly two 😁

Susan Clark10 totally blew past me. 😁

And honestly, the last FF album was great. 🙂

I couldn't even tell if they had a lead singer or a lead singeress while I was Lollapalooza watching Placebo... 😁
Turns out it wasn't even Ica at the end. 😁

really? caught them live a few times, but mostly just listen to them out of curiosity 😁

hollowseal33, girlaj, you aren't heading to Lollapalooza watching Placebo 🙂

Man, when they played in Vienna, it was easily the concert of the year for me. I was absolutely over the moon—total butterflies and everything.
They were okay when they hit Chicago, I guess.
But honestly? I'm getting pretty bored of seeing them at festivals like Lollapalooza.
And then last year in New York City, I was basically just counting down the minutes until I could escape the show after hearing those new dub-disco tracks. Just awful.

I don't know, their live shows are starting to feel so repetitive. Even the way they stomp their feet is always the exact same, and they always have to end with "This Fire," which drives me absolutely crazy. 🙄

🤷

I suppose you actually watched every performer through to the end, despite your own questionable attitude; clearly, you had nothing better to do with your time.

Once you have a band and enough inspiration to compose even five percent of what you've been trashing, then maybe you can talk.

Are you going to Lollapalooza watching Placebo?

Listen, Pavlekic, how on earth did you conclude that I watched every single act until the very end? I was mostly there to offer moral support to the people working, while hanging out and grabbing drinks with those who weren't... and I actually had a great time, even if only three and a half bands managed to impress me over the whole two days.

I don't think I'll ever understand pathetic types like you, who suddenly develop a sense of justice just because someone dares to voice a terrible heresy—like saying every art brut song sounds identical, or that Tricky is just hilariously high, or that Karen is as ugly as midnight...

The whole argument about having five percent talent automatically invalidates every single discussion on internet forums everywhere. Is that clear to you, or is that adolescent fire of righteousness still burning too brightly in your chest?

I found this pink glow stick in my backpack. Is that the thing you use to throw at bands if they suck? 🙄
Mine won't light up. Like, I have three and none of them work. Why?

You have to snap them first. 🙂

I just sat down and scrolled through every single video I took on my phone over those two days, and honestly, I realized how much I absolutely loved it 😁 ... I guess I’m basically a kid when it comes to stuff like this—there’s just nothing like actually seeing and hearing someone you already love and listen to live, even if, objectively speaking, the performance wasn't perfect (like YYY, the editors) .. --I still love them, I'll still be listening to them, and if I ever get the chance to go to another concert, I am definitely going 🙂 ..

..then there were the acts I don't listen to all the time, like N. E. R. d., Kraftwerk, Tricky, Moby... it was still such a blast to hear them live ... and I can't say any of those sets were bad 🤷 ... the N. E. R. d. show was pure insanity for me—I don't think I've ever jumped and danced that much in my entire life 👍 ..

...FF -- they were great 👍 ...

..so, my takeaway is this: everything I didn't quite enjoy—(the editors being totally uninterested, acting like they're too cool for new stuff, or skipping some of their older hits that are actually classics, and N. E. R. d. with that whole "say Coachella, Coachella" push 😕 😁 --but honestly, I don't even care about that, because the performance itself was perfect 🙂 ) ... --I'm forgetting 😁

--it was just awesome 😁

Is there even a single city where they haven't sold out?

I mean, maybe people are just getting lazy, or maybe the tickets have just become way too expensive at this point.

that's what they say to idiots.

btw how is Miss L claiming Moby is more relevant than FF or N.E.R.D.? He wasn't even relevant back when Play launched, for crying out loud (don't get me wrong, I love Play).

The main thing is that he dropped an album last year and has a brand new one coming out in just three days. What would you even use as a metric for how "current" someone is?
I didn't say he was any more actually relevant than Franz or anything, nor that they were less relevant 😉

Wait, N.E.R.D.?

First off, are you blind? You totally missed that this was just a typo; I clearly wrote it correctly later in the sentence 😛
Second, you mentioned that yyy, Moby, and art brut are relevant right now, but that FF only has a comma album.
Third, N.E.R.D. dropped an album last year, and Pharrell is out there working harder than anyone else—if anyone is actually relevant, it’s him 🤷

Hey there, Adam Moore! 😁

Alright, let's reset and start from square one:

I put FF in the "bad albums" category (or "bad current third album," if you want to be technical) because emphasizing their recent work felt more important than just saying they're current. I wanted a solid counterargument for why the festival turnout wasn't higher.

As for Art Brut, YYY, and Moby, I grouped them under "current" since they are. Honestly, I can't really judge their albums because I haven't listened to them, and they don't really fit into any other genre categories here—unlike Rokia. 😁

To be totally honest, I have no clue who N.E.R.D. or Pharrell actually are, and frankly, I don't care much. From what I've gathered on this forum, they're just some rappers. 👍
It's great that they're prolific, but being busy isn't enough to make people flock to festivals just for them.
Or do you actually think they're more popular than Depeche Mode? 🤷

Alright, let's reset here:

I put FF in the "bad album" category (or "bad current third album," whatever you want to call it) because I wanted to emphasize that more than the fact they're current. It was my counterpoint to why the festival turnout wasn't higher.

I put Art Brut, YYY, and Moby in the "current" category since they are, but I can't really judge their albums since I haven't listened to them—plus they don't really fit in with the rock stuff, so I couldn't slot them elsewhere.😁

Honestly, I have zero clue who N.E.R.D. and Pharrell are and I'm not really interested; I've just learned through this forum that they're some rappers.👍
I'm glad they're busy working, but that's still not enough reason for people to flock to festivals just for them.
Or do you think they're actually more popular than Depeche Mode? 🤷

Don't "oh man" me, Adam Moore, you know how I am!

😉

We totally misunderstood each other; I wasn't questioning why you singled those ones out as current and others weren't, I was just looking for an explanation.

I don't think the festival flopped because the names were outdated or the lineup was weak; I think it was the format itself. I'm pretty sure Lily Allen could sell out a venue like Madison Square Garden on her own (and Tricky definitely could, maybe even YYY), and Moby would probably sell out an arena or at least a major stadium. But with a festival setup, it’s hard to get people to drop all that cash if they only care about one single act. Maybe it's because the bands aren't genre-specific; they just pick whoever is available, so they aren't targeting a specific crowd, which makes ticket sales tank. Who knows, just my two cents, but the lineup looked pretty solid on paper.

Just dropping in to say that was freaking incredible. I was expecting a decent vibe and all that, but honestly, it blew my mind. Everything was amazing, except for the prices—holy crap, they were steep, but hey, I guess someone’s gotta make a buck, right? 😁
I mainly went to see Lily, FFa, and Moby, but I have to tell you, I was totally blown away by everything else I saw too. I pretty much caught almost every set 😁
The only thing that sucked was that drunk crowd at FFa, just shoving their way through everyone trying to get closer (+ some annoying, huge lady who clearly used me as a human armrest -.-)
But other than that—ABSOLUTELY EPIC!
I am definitely going again next year 😬

Gary Baker3 said:I can still picture most of them, roughly in this order (though I really only know the first two for sure—the rest are a bit of a blur to me):
Extreme Ways
In My Heart
Porcelain
We Are All Made of Stars
Bodyrock
Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad (this was sung by a Black woman)
In This World
Natural Blues (this one too)
Raining Again
Raining Again was the last one played before the encore—or maybe it was the very first song of the encore, right around the time he started talking about Bush.
Feeling So Real (that was the last one)

There were maybe two or three others I couldn't quite place, specifically the ones sung by that female vocalist—not the Black singer, the other one.

Oh, wow, you guys are honestly the best!
I didn't realize those were the ones she—that Black woman (it feels terrible to even address her that way, but I honestly don't know her name) was talking about. 😁 She was singing.
I honestly can’t find a single thing to complain about when it comes to Moby. Maybe that's just because I was still riding the high from being at his concert.
Kraftwerk was absolutely incredible. I honestly couldn't bring myself to move from the front row—pretty much the same way I felt during the Moby set. 😁 The only thing that really caught me off guard was the crowd; they were a bit too static for my liking, though that might just be my own personal taste.
N.E.R.D. was a blast, and Lily was absolutely charming. I’m really hoping I get a chance to catch Tricky next time around—hopefully, I'll see Moby too. 😍 Kiril was absolutely fantastic, as usual. That’s really all there is to say.
It was an absolute blast—definitely worth every cent. 😁

N.E.R.D. and their constant pushing of that "say Kroejjjšaaa Kroejjjšaaa" thing... 😕 😁 And besides, none of that really matters to me... my performance was absolutely perfect... 🙂 )

Has it really escaped everyone's notice that even Anthrax has shouted "Kroejjjšaaaa" more than a few times!!!

To be perfectly honest, I find it quite baffling that I didn't feel the same way. Given how much of an emotional struggle 😢
