I’m honestly just so disappointed.

I mean, you take this almost legendary story about a crew that spent nearly 30 years pulling massive scores by outsmarting casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City—all that complexity behind their schemes and their constant battle against casino security—and you turn it into this hollow, shallow, surface-level, and ultimately DULL movie? Good grief, I actually wanted to sue the screenwriter (though honestly, they probably wouldn't even win the case)... Like, seriously, imagine... the guy finally makes it big and then just starts living the life, and THAT is supposed to be the highlight of the film? 🙄

If anyone actually wants to know what the real foundation of this story is, this Wikipedia article covers it.

Yeah, honestly, Americans really know how to make a killer movie, especially those talented folks who probably couldn't even point to the US on a map.

As for the actual flick—it's alright. It’s good because it really fires up your imagination, but don't expect to walk away with some deep life lesson. Other than the fact that greed is a total nightmare...

That was certainly an interesting movie... I mean, it was fun, I suppose, but I can't help but wonder about the realism of it all. It doesn't seem to align very closely with how actual American counters operate in the real world. In reality, those professionals spend years and years honing the specific techniques shown on screen, whereas this crew seems to have mastered everything in what feels like, oh, maybe just a single week? 😁😁

Worth a look, I suppose—though I have to wonder why they’d hire that Australian-American auntie Luketica for a project like this.
It really could have been a masterpiece if they’d just brought in a decent director...

especially knowing it was inspired by actual events
it might even be one of the best movies I've seen
