😬

They even have that Mirror drive series. You set it on an ebony stand on your desk, it sits there at a nice angle, just looking sharp...

It’s definitely a pussy magnet...

I haven't had a chance to dig into the specs yet, but does this support mirroring? Also, what’s the actual difference between getting a single drive included in the package versus having two HDDs set up in a mirror configuration?

🤦 No way....

They’re just polished enough to act like a mirror, which is actually kind of cool.... it has nothing to do with mirroring....

They’re polished so bright you can see your own reflection. It’s just a finish. Doesn't have anything to do with Mirroring....

What, you gonna tell me a steak is basically a dog poop bag?🤣

If you ask me, this is actually quite a brilliant little setup. Think about those ambitious developers and web designers who pull sixteen-hour shifts; they barely have the luxury of stepping away from their desks to wash their faces, brush their teeth, or even shave. This is the ultimate solution because you can handle all of that right there above your keyboard while staring intently at your Mirror.

But if you aren't using mirroring mode, what’s even the point?🤷
Mirroring everything with a direct double backup to OneDrive, the cloud, and all that other internet nonsense...🥳

😁 I’m not entirely sure if you caught my drift, but Mirror is simply the name of the product line—much like how an Alienware monitor doesn't actually contain a predatory animal inside its chassis, but is merely branded that way. 🙏
Besides, it features a literal mirror on the surface, so if you happen to be particularly narcissistic, this might just be the perfect gadget for you. 😁 If what you’re actually hunting for is an external compact drive—or drives—configured in a RAID setup, I don't believe I've ever come across anything quite like that on the market.

I have my Book, and all those grey ones are configured as RAID!

Look, I specifically used the word "compact," which is exactly what the Mirror is; meanwhile, my Book is basically a glorified brick housing two 5.25-inch drives, making it more of a desktop RAID solution—and honestly, those are easy enough to come by. Besides, isn't a portable RAID setup a bit of a redundant concept anyway?

So now you're aiming for 1.8... and almost there on the love aspect too... though using an external RAID isn't exactly efficient, unless you're playing James Bond!

Honestly, I’m not particularly interested in any of this, unless they decide to release a Porsche design mi NAS storage unit. If they did, I’d proudly display it right on my living room table just to spark a little envy among my family, friends, and neighbors. Wouldn't it be fun to walk out onto the porch and say, "Hey neighbor, I just picked up a new Porsche, you want to come over and take a look?" 🙏

Robert Rodriguez2 said:You want me to say that people are acting like total idiots? Fine. Let's call it what it is. 🤣

I wasn't sure how many people would take issue with that phrase, so I played it safe and skipped it—even though it was actually my first choice. 😁🙂

I don't know what to tell you guys. I’m just sitting here looking at this mess and wondering why anyone thought this was a good idea. It’s frustrating, honestly. I try to stay level-headed, but some of these takes are just exhausting. I'll keep it brief because I don't have the energy for a long-winded lecture, but let's be real: we're heading in the wrong direction here. kaže:
I said "compact."

Is a 2TB or 4TB rugged Thunderbolt RAID setup enough for you?

I was looking at this LaCie Rugged RAID setup online. It looks solid on paper, but I’m always skeptical about whether these "pro" drives actually hold up when you start pushing them. They market it for people on the move, which usually just means they're hoping you'll pay a premium for a rubber bumper. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if it's worth the extra cash or if I should just stick to a standard external drive and be careful. Thoughts?

LaCie doesn't agree with you that there's any point in doing that. 😬

Well, that’s certainly an interesting predicament to find yourself in... if you look at the situation logically, you've set up this RAID 1 configuration because you're clearly quite paranoid about data integrity, aren't you? But then, after some time passes, one of those drives inevitably gives up the ghost. Sure, your data is still technically safe and sound, but now you're stuck staring at a dead drive that, from what I can gather, isn't easily replaceable, right? If it were actually swappable, wouldn't you essentially have this incredibly resilient, indestructible portable backup in your hands? 😁

I mean, what’s even the point of having a RAID setup if you can't just swap out the drives when things go south?

Look, let's be real here—people make much more glaringly obvious design blunders than this. 😁

Checking Best Buy today, and since it's Black Friday, they’ve actually got some components priced lower than what you'd find at other retailers...

Not a bad deal. It’s not like I could ever snag 70% off on hardware and still turn a profit the way you might with a pair of sneakers.
