Well, it really comes down to whether that seller actually realizes you know your stuff—like, did they pick up on the fact that you're an expert, or do they just think you're some random customer who hasn't a clue? I guess that’s what determines if they try to scam you or actually give you a straight answer. In my experience—and this was my case—the guy I was talking to figured out right away that I knew exactly what I was looking for, so he didn't even attempt to sell me any useless junk.

I heard they recently swapped out an APU for a quad core from the same generation and architecture, claiming the "internal structure" didn't support Windows XP 🤣

Honestly, they didn't really screw anyone over with that suggestion since the quad was a better value anyway, but that "reasoning"? OMG

:clapping: Honestly, there’s just too much going on these days—and if you don't stand your ground or actually know what your rights are from the jump, people just assume they can walk all over you like some clueless kid

Are we going to see prices drop on Nvidia GTX cards anytime soon?

They probably shouldn't. I mean, nobody has a crystal ball 😛 ...but looking at how things have played out over the last few years, I'd say definitely not, at least not until the generational shift this summer.

They’ve completely lost it. It’s $150 over here in the States, but they’ve jacked up the prices back home. I also don't get what AMD is thinking with that R7 370 card—they hiked the price recently so it's basically sitting right next to the GTX950 now.

I honestly need to vent a little bit about my experience with IBM... A buddy of mine dropped his PC off with them for repairs (he actually bought the whole rig there, too), and I can't even remember if it was right before or after Christmas, but he still hasn't seen it. He’s called them several times now, and they can't even give him a straight answer on when it'll be ready or what the actual issue is. All they'll say is that they're waiting on some specific component from a supplier and that the timeline is entirely out of their hands—which is just a convenient way of saying they have zero clue. To make matters worse, they won't even tell him which part they're waiting on. It feels incredibly dismissive and, frankly, pretty arrogant. We're talking a full month since he left it in their hands. On top of all that, they push this ridiculous nonsense that if you've ever so much as cracked open the case, your warranty is instantly void. I don't know if that's standard practice or what, but to me, it feels like a total scam. It's just gross.

If they opened up the case, the warranty probably still holds, but they'll definitely charge you for the diagnostic fee. Which, I guess, is fair enough.

It’s just not right that they're being so vague about what's actually going on...

It honestly feels wrong when they try to sweep things under the rug like this instead of just being upfront about what's actually going on. It’s frustrating when people dodge the real conversation.

I haven't even received my computer yet, and I’m still completely in the dark about when it'll actually show up. I gave them a call a few days ago, and they finally told me that the holdup is actually due to the graphics card. Apparently, they're just sitting around waiting for their supplier to ship the component back to them. Honestly, I'm feeling pretty stuck here. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I’m torn between just playing the waiting game or actually filing a formal complaint with someone. I really don't know which way to go with this.

Like we already told you, the unit is still under warranty, so he needs to get that GPU replaced at no cost. I’m not buying any of those excuses. The only thing they might try to charge for is a diagnostic fee if I've already broken the factory seals by opening the PC myself.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do. From what I know, they have a 45-business-day window for repairs, so it sucks. I doubt they're even being lazy on purpose; it's probably just some messy procedure where they have to ship the card back to the manufacturer and wait for a replacement to arrive. It could easily take 2 or 3 weeks just for parts to show up.

click 240GB SSD $183 at a discount. People say it isn’t exactly top-tier 😬 , but hey, it’s easily the cheapest SSD
on the market.

Over on HardwareZone, they're running comparisons between the 480GB and 960GB models. Their take is that the ADATA SP550 significantly outperforms the competition—meaning the Blast and Ignite series hold their own too. They basically view the budget SSDs as pretty weak performers, arguing it’s a bad move to pick one if it costs 15% more than an ADATA, though here in the States, that price gap is actually a bit wider.

On another note, I haven't seen any reviews for the 240GB versions. It’s either going to be identical performance or worse, nothing better. It looks like manufacturers are moving away from small-capacity drives entirely; at least Crucial seems to be phasing out anything under 240GB.

Hey everyone, I think my GPU might have kicked the bucket on this new build I just pulled from the admin office. Everything runs perfectly fine using the integrated Intel graphics, but the second I plug a DVI cable into the card itself, absolute chaos ensues; I actually had to go into Windows and disable the thing entirely because it kept interfering even when I was trying to use the onboard graphics. So, everything is stable now, provided it stays disabled.

Now, I wanted to pick your brains regarding that standard 14-day return window after purchase—if I head down to the store right now to drop this off, do you think they’ll swap it out for a working unit within a day or two without giving me too much grief?

What 14 days? You’ve got six months under consumer protection laws!
