Which year are we talking about? 😁

I picked up an RX 480 4 -> RX 480 4 nitro for $320. It comes with a 12-month warranty since it's a pull model from an unsold PC. I don't think the price is bad, especially considering it's basically a new product.

Target has some solid deals running right now—you can grab 10% off using a promo code, plus an extra 10% when you pay with Mastercard or Maestro.

SSDs are looking cheap, but the Ryzen 7 3700X is getting pricey $723 and things like that.

Should I pull the trigger now, or wait until around Bozic for potential sales?
Motherboard, CPU, and RAM are already accounted for.

There aren't any massive hardware sales happening right now, aside from SSDs, since their prices are constantly dropping while capacities keep climbing. Honestly, whether you wait or buy now, you're basically looking at the same outcome.

uvi gear lust vs glorius model o 🤷

So, why choose one over the other? Is one actually better, or are they basically the same thing? I guess kids are mostly looking at the first one, and I’m leaning that way too just because it's cheaper 😁, but if there isn't a real difference, it doesn't really matter to me. I just want to pick up something decent so I don't have to stress about it later 😁

First off, go with whichever one's cheaper, especially if it already comes with higher DPI settings.

Hey, so what exactly is DPI, if you want the short version? 😁

If you're looking for something reliable that still keeps that classic aesthetic, then this is the one

Adam Williams2 said:So, what exactly is DPI in layman's terms? 😁

Think of it as pure sensitivity. Basically, if you crank your DPI to the max—most mice have a dedicated button for that—moving your hand just one centimeter might send the cursor flying from one side of your desk to the other. Low DPI is the opposite; you’re moving your hand like an idiot, yet the cursor barely budges an inch on the screen.

Now, gamers tend to love high DPI (and then they just dial down the in-game sensitivity settings), mostly because they fancy themselves skilled and precise, so they feel like having that extra responsiveness helps them perform better. 😁

I actually just picked up a Roccat Kain 122 AIMO on sale recently. For me, 16,000 DPI is a bit overkill; I usually stick to 12,000, but I'm getting used to it. I've started testing out the full 16k during gaming sessions and then just lowering the sensitivity in the game menus.

I read somewhere that it's technically better to set a high DPI on the mouse itself and lower the in-game sensitivity, rather than setting a low DPI and cranking up the in-game sensitivity, but I'm not exactly a hardcore pro gamer, so I can't say for certain...

Gamers love high DPI now. They think cranking it up makes them more precise, even if they just end up lowering the sensitivity in the settings to compensate. They believe it somehow helps them play better. 😁

I tried running at 4k DPI. It was way too much for me.

You eventually get used to anything. For me, jumping from 3,600 to 12,000 overnight wasn't even an issue, though hitting 16,000 was a bit more of a struggle—but even that's starting to feel easier lately.

We’ve kicked things off here, so all previous posts have been migrated to this new thread: shortage and growth in PC hardware prices

The title of this section has also been updated from "Useful Pages + Best Buy Components & Builds + HTPC" to "Sales, Discounts, and Best Buy PC Components & Configurations."

This space is intended for sharing links to sales, discounts, and absolute best buys. Remember, a great deal doesn't always need a massive "SALE!" banner to be worth it—often those hidden gems slip by unnoticed, so we're providing this dedicated spot for them. Naturally, feel free to comment on specific deals or share your own experiences with items currently on sale.

Thanks 😁 👍👍👍

AMD Ryzen 4/8 Core $900 is available, which is basically a decent enough deal.

Well, at least it’s available, which is a start, but there’s definitely room for improvement. Initially, the link was pointing to $833.

I bet that was their "long-term" target price, and then they just jacked it up. Once the 1080p resolution version drops, I think it'll settle around $2000 & $833 and slowly drift toward that mark over time.

It’s been quite some time since I last picked up any hardware, and seeing these prices today has left me somewhat stunned. Is it actually possible that the Ryzen 5 2400G is currently priced at $467 when I paid significantly more for it just six months ago? $263

WTF.

Yes

We decided to pull this out into its own thread just so we aren't starting from scratch.

Wtf

There's a Ryzen 5 3350G available for $333. At this point, it stands as the only sensible option if anyone is looking to pick up an older AMD Ryzen 4/8 Core APU right now.☕
