It’s honestly such a headache trying to plan a PC build months in advance. How are you supposed to know what prices will look like or which specific parts are actually going to go on sale? On the other hand, if you don't have a clear list ready before Black Friday hits, anyone with half a brain will snatch up the decent stuff in the first five minutes. Last year, I was sitting there waiting for a Chipotle Black Friday deal to grab a Roomba for $600 or $233, but I couldn't even get the website to load for the first few hours—at least not for me, though clearly 😁 had better luck. By the time I finally broke through the digital crowd, everything was already gone 🙄 In the end, I just ended up grabbing a robot vacuum from Amazon during a decent sale, but I still paid four times more than I wanted to 🤦

wiredotter14 said:I wasn't listing those as pros and cons, just mentioning them as general specs. Before the Ryzen era, AMD tended to run hotter and was the cheaper option.

The 3700X is priced way too high. $733The Intel Core i7 10700k is the better choice.

Based on current pricing, here’s what I think is actually worth it:

The i3 10100F. $233
The i5 10400F. $400
The Intel Core i7 10700k. $587
The Ryzen 5 5600X. $750
The 5900X. $1400

I honestly don't think the other options even make sense. Between the Intel Core i7 10700 k and the Ryzen 5 5600X, you're basically leaving everything else—from the 10400F up to the 5900X—in the dust.

I think you might have meant iPhone? Or maybe just a typo for something else entirely. Either way, I'm lost. $700 Newegg $633 Let's talk about the price.

Apples and oranges. Newegg’s price is $633 before shipping and US taxes, and IPON is just whatever you want, but honestly? For that kind of money, I’d grab a 5600X over a 3700X any day. It's close enough in multithreaded tasks, but in gaming, it absolutely crushes it.

How exactly are you figuring it's way better? I'm looking at the Time Spy CPU scores here—the 5600x pulls an 8400, while the 3700x is sitting right at 9900.

.

I'll probably just hammer out a definitive build by then and hope for the best regarding whatever deals might pop up. We'll see how it goes..

Time Spy isn't a game. In actual gaming, the 5600X performs right up there with the Intel Core i7 10700 k. Meanwhile, the 3700X is lagging about 15% behind.

It might be better to use the phrase "significantly better" rather than just saying it's "slightly better" by 10-20%.

Look, choosing the exact right adjective is subjective. We’re talking about diminishing returns at the top end, which is why I said "way better."
Yeah, the 5600X is 10-20% faster, putting it right up there with an i7-10700K, and creeping close to the i9-10900K, the 5800X, or the 5900X—even when you look at the 1% lows. It's a massive step up from the 3700X, but it won't touch those high-end beasts. For context, the 3700X sits somewhere in the ballpark of an i5-10400 in gaming performance.

OMEN 25L GT11-1009ny Desktop – AMD Ryzen 5 5600 g (Hexa Core, up to 4.40 GHz), 8 GB Kingston DDR4 RAM, ASUS B550, Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 4, 512 GB WD SSD, 500W PSU, WiFi

So, what’s the verdict on this rig—is it actually worth $1667? I’m already planning on slapping another 8 GB of RAM in there to beef it up. Honestly, I just need it for the usual stuff: office work, streaming movies, browsing the web, listening to music... maybe I'll scratch that itch for some old-school shooters like Quake III or Wolfenstein, or perhaps even jump into a newer Wolfenstein title if the mood strikes. Truth be told, I don't even need a "gaming" PC by any stretch of the imagination; I just want something snappy that feels smooth when I'm using it.

I'd really appreciate your honest take on this, so thanks in advance for the help.

What do you guys think of this build? Is it worth $1667? I’m planning on adding another 8 GB of RAM later on. It's mainly for office work, multimedia, browsing, movies, and audio... maybe I'll throw on some old-school classics like Quake III or Wolfenstein, or even a newer Wolfenstein title... honestly, I don't even need a gaming rig; I just want something snappy and smooth.

I'd really appreciate your honest thoughts. Thanks in advance.

It's a good deal!

Hey, I'm no tech wizard, but I'm looking at buying a new setup and had a quick question. What's the deal with these All-in-One PCs—is everything actually built into the monitor? My gut feeling says they’re probably going to lag or be slow. I just need it for browsing, work, and maybe some Netflix; definitely not gaming. Budget is around $5,000.

Something like this

Is this even worth it?

That one from the 😁 isn't really any good.
There are plenty of much stronger options for roughly the same price.
They mostly just throw laptop components in there, so speed shouldn't be an issue, I guess.

https://www.amazon.com/Ra%C4%8Dunal...m_medium=click

It looks like there might be another 10% discount on top of the current price, too.

Just ordered that one you mentioned. 😬

If they were actually legit, they'd give you a commission. 😁

Where can I find a Ryzen 5600 g?
Right now, I've just been checking out Nabava and Google Shopping (assuming I don't end up ordering from overseas), but I've realized they don't seem to list everything. By any chance, I noticed on Best Buy that it's actually cheaper than what those two price aggregators are showing, yet Best Buy isn't even listed on them.

Are there any other solid retailers out there that offer decent prices but aren't featured on the major comparison sites?

Everyone seems to be showing up on the price aggregators, so this issue with Links might just be some kind of glitch—maybe their search engine got tripped up because the CPU is currently listed as out of stock there. Usually, Links shows up consistently in the availability listings. Most of the best deals are generally indexed, but you really have to keep an eye on everything since even the pricier retailers occasionally run those unexpected flash sales.
I’m not entirely sure you'll find much better luck than $733. You might want to check out one of the Amazon sites within the EU, as they sometimes have those weird, random discounts popping up on specific regional storefronts.

Take a look at Best Buy—I haven't checked lately, but even their search filters aren't picking anything up. They used to be the go-to for the best deals, though.

That's pretty sweet, where did this even come from? Is Best Buy really selling CPUs that were originally intended for OEM pre-builts? Well, if those mATX motherboards aren't being too hard on the wallet, you could easily slide this right into one of those compact little cases you have.

Yeah. I could probably cram that into my mini ITX build. Honestly, I didn't even realize they offered a 35W version. Or maybe it just fell off a truck somewhere. Whatever.

@ostali:
Thanks! I'll grab it at that price then; it's not like I'm breaking the bank $33 here or anywhere else, especially since I managed to snag some Black Friday deals on most of the other components.

I still need a monitor, though. Is there any decent alternative to the Dell S2721HGF? Pixel density and sharpness aren't my main priority—I just want something a bit larger. My only hesitation is whether to go with a 1440P screen and just run everything at 1080P. Some people swear it looks terrible, while others say they can't tell the difference.
