Abdominal CT scan

Does anyone know where I can go in New York City to get a private abdominal CT scan, and what kind of damage am I looking at price-wise? My internist basically told me that if I try to go through the hospital system, I'll be sitting on a waiting list for months. So, if you've gone the private route recently, please let me know who you actually trust. Thanks for any leads!

I actually got mine done on a Saturday over at a local clinic near Brooklyn. It was a pretty smooth experience overall.

You should check out Mayo Clinic or Quest Diagnostics. I believe they might even accept insurance referrals. It’s true that if you go the standard route, you’re looking at a wait of maybe two or three weeks, but honestly, if you have the patience, it’s worth it... If you decide to pay out of pocket, you can usually get seen within two or three days. I'd estimate the cost will be around $333. I don't think it goes much higher than that...

I ended up paying a lot less, but that was just for my thyroid (specifically a soft tissue ultrasound of the neck), $83

I just had a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis. It was ordered because of high cortisol levels, a poor response during a low-dose dexamethasone test, sudden weight loss, and major issues getting my weight back to normal.
The main reason for the scan was to check my adrenal glands.
While I was there, I also had a full blood panel done. My total bilirubin came back extremely high—somewhere between 5.0 and 21.0 usually, but mine was at 46.1.
I’m not overly worried about that specific number since I was on hormone therapy for my ovaries at the time, which might have spiked it.

Everything in the CT report seems okay, but I’d love to hear some perspectives before I sit down with my doctor.

Basically, all the organs look normal in size and everything else looks fine...
The liver is a normal size with no focal lesions, though there is a small hypodensity in segment IV that likely represents a pseudolesion.
There are also a couple of lymph nodes, up to 6mm, near the aorta and just above the renal vessels.

I would really appreciate your thoughts—does this sound like anything significant, or are these just minor findings you shouldn't worry about? Thanks in advance! 👍

I’m hoping someone with some medical background might be able to help me make sense of this. My uncle just had a CT scan done—he got the results back today, though he doesn't have his follow-up appointment with his doctor until Monday.

Here is what the report says:

Expansive renal mass in the upper third of the kidney (possible RCC?)
Fatty liver infiltration, liver cyst
Suspected liver cysts, alternative etiology
Renal cysts
