Count me in: I’m a hypochondriac and a patient through and through. 😁 Look, let’s be clear—I have actual diagnoses. But I also deal with these massive waves of hypochondria where I’m convinced my medical chart is just going to keep growing, or worse, that everything is already spiraling into something much more serious. ☕

I honestly think it’s totally normal for people like us—those of us juggling multiple diagnoses, especially the kind that trigger a domino effect of other issues—to spot a potential symptom in every little thing we notice.

Take me, for example. I get anxious sometimes, but it usually passes after a day or two and I move on. But just recently, I noticed some thickening of the skin on my thumb. Since that's a known symptom of scleroderma—which is a systemic disease—and since my medical chart still lists an "undefined systemic connective tissue disorder" (which is basically doctor-speak for "we aren't quite sure what's actually going on yet"), obviously, noticing stuff like that isn't something I can just ignore.

I don't consider this hypochondria.
🤦I don't know why, but I have zero tolerance for actual hypochondriacs in my life. Honestly, I feel like hitting them when they start whining about nonsense. Just the other day, a friend of mine was complaining about her legs swelling. Whether she's sitting at her desk all day or running errands around town, she's either stationary or constantly on the move. When you tell her it's perfectly normal given her activity level, she starts spiraling, insisting it's some massive heart problem.

I'm with you on that, but even with actual, documented medical issues, everyone around me still tries to label me a hypochondriac. I just say: if they want to believe that, fine... honestly, let them think whatever they want 😁

@ melloworca6

Long before I actually got my diagnoses, I was such a huge hypochondriac... 😁

Now, things have flipped on me. I've gone from being mostly fine to feeling like a moderate hypochondriac, mainly because the new diagnoses just keep coming one after another 🤣

And when you try telling a hypochondriac that their constant worrying is actually going to cause them physical harm, they look at you like you’ve just landed from outer space.

Look, I don't really care if someone is making up illnesses out of thin air; I just don't want to be burdened by their drama. I have enough of my own shit to deal with without having to play therapist because someone thinks they popped a capillary or lost an eyelash.
All my friends know I'm sick, and right from the start, they were all either telling me straight to my face or whispering behind my back that I was just being dramatic or overreacting. Then, those exact same people call me up the second they think something is wrong, looking for sympathy, wanting me to interpret a lab result, or begging for comfort because they think nobody gets them quite like I do. I'm not interested. Fuck off.

Long before I actually had any official diagnoses, I was a massive hypochondriac.😁

Now? It’s almost like an inverse relationship. I’ve gone from being totally fine to hovering somewhere between a mild worrywart and full-blown health anxiety—mostly because the diagnoses just keep coming at me like they're on a conveyor belt.🤣

I'm not...
It all started when a massive panic attack completely leveled me. Then it spiraled into depression, then moved straight into generalized anxiety, and now (if I have my way) I'm settling into pure hypochondria...
And honestly? I'm such a coward that I can't even bring myself to walk into a doctor's office. God, what am I doing?🤷

You know, at the end of the day, doctors are only human too... 🤣

If you aren't feeling well, please just go see a doctor... 🧐

In any case, anything you might deal with could probably be handled by some basic activated charcoal from a local CVS. 😬

Then again, half a teaspoon seems a bit light to me-- unless, of course, you're extremely sensitive. 😉

Listen, everyone—hypochondriac or not—I actually came down with a fever and a stomach bug yesterday.🙏 🤷

Alright folks, I’m officially calling it—I am throwing in the towel on this whole hypochondria thing. I surrender! 😁

I actually managed to jam my finger (totally by accident), and I was dead certain I was headed for sepsis or tetanus... 🙂
It’s like this all the time. Seriously. At one point, I was convinced I had colon cancer because of some stomach cramps, or a heart attack from tightness in my chest, or even a brain tumor because of the headaches and dizziness—not to mention the endless list of mental health issues I could go on about... like, coma territory! But I usually wait until things are absolutely critical before I even think about seeing a doctor. For the longest time, I just ignored the ovarian pain and my irregular periods until my partner finally dragged me to a specialist, where it turned out I have PCOS. Honestly, it was such a relief... if only because it proved I wasn't just making stuff up. Same thing happened with the brain tumor scare; I kept feeling lightheaded and dizzy, thinking the worst, only to realize my blood pressure was just chronically low. So, that's sorted... Now I just have a few more things to figure out, and then maybe I can finally stop panicking. Yesterday, I actually asked my parents to pay for a full physical for my birthday... 🙂 just so I can finally get some peace of mind... 😂

🙏 Wait, how exactly? Seriously, walk me through the logic here because I am completely lost.😁

I mean, seriously—when the priest who’s supposed to be your moral compass tells you that you’re just making things up in your head, and then your doctors start saying the same thing... and it's not just them, either. It's Mom, Dad, my brother, my sister, even my actual friends. Look, I get it, having health issues sucks, but apparently, I’m just exaggerating everything or whatever they call it

So, I kind of had this moment where I thought, okay, fine—let me actually try doing exactly what all of you keep telling me to do. It hasn't worked a single time before, but maybe this new approach will finally stick, right?😁

Whatever, let them judge me if they want, I'm just gonna tune them out. If I die, I die, I guess. At least I got it off my chest during confession.😁

That’s why I always say anyone who constantly worries about their health needs a healthy dose of self-deprecation. You really have to be able to laugh at yourself sometimes...

Nobody wants to hang out with someone who just complains all the time 😬

Seriously, you can joke around ten times, but the eleventh time? That’s when you just snap—you're totally done with all this nonsense 😁

In just the last hour, I’ve checked my blood pressure ten different times... and yeah, obviously it's perfectly normal 😁
The battery life on this thing is a total joke—it barely lasts two days if I'm lucky—so now I’m basically shelling out money $3.25 for new batteries 😁 every single day

So, what happened? Is every single hypochondriac in America suddenly cured? Did everyone just wake up feeling perfectly fine all at once?

The hypochondriac only feels better once they actually get sick. 😁

Probably getting better, just like before. 🙂

I’ve already got a bag packed with all my essentials—just in case I end up in the ER out of nowhere!😂
Honestly, it just gives me some peace of mind.😁
