What on earth is a "splenunkulus"!?

So, I just wrapped up an MRI on my kidneys and adrenal glands (which seems fine, thankfully!), but looking over the report, there’s a mention of something called a splenunculus located somewhere on my spleen—I don't have the paperwork right in front of me to pinpoint the exact coordinates, so bear with me.😕It's about 1.5cm in size. Could someone please shed some light on what this actually is? Is this something I should be worried about, and if it is indeed something "bad," how does one typically go about "fixing" it? We're talking about accessory spleen here—basically just an extra little knot of splenic tissue hanging out on its own. It pops up in maybe 10% of people, and honestly, it’s usually just a random finding that means absolutely nothing. In super rare cases, certain diseases affecting the spleen might spread to this extra bit, but that's a whole different conversation. Bottom line? Nothing to worry about.
