Best nasal spray for congestion?

Operil works wonders for me—though one shouldn't overdo it.

operil is top-tier stuff, honestly; I rely on it myself. My understanding is that you shouldn't be using it for more than three days straight, though. Are you finding that you need it for longer than that?

I ended up using it for months on end... honestly, because nothing else seemed to touch it, not even a little bit...

Flonase was my saving grace. Aside from stuff like operil and the rest, I find that corticosteroid sprays—like Flonase—are really the only things that actually work for me, plus you can stick with them much longer. Is it a brilliant idea to use them indefinitely? Who knows. But using them for a few months shouldn't be an issue.

Just keep in mind that corticosteroids need some time to actually kick in—we're talking a few days to a week—so don't go claiming they aren't working just because they don't provide that instant, nose-clearing blast you get from operil.

Aside from operil, I haven't heard much about sprays, but I swear by ephedrine nasal drops for adults.
I’ve been known to use them for two weeks straight when my allergies hit (just until the Flonase kicks in). Honestly, being unable to sleep because of a stuffed nose makes destroying your nasal lining seem like a fair trade-off...

My sinuses are a total disaster. My nose is constantly blocked up. If it weren't for operil, I probably would have suffocated and dropped dead by now.😳

No, you'll actually be using it until you damage your mucous membranes so badly that your nose starts bleeding uncontrollably if you so much as scratch it—let alone try to blow it. 😉 I'm not even exaggerating; I've seen it happen, and honestly, my own nose wasn't doing much better while I was using it.

If you have a deviated septum, surgery is an option—though it’s painful and often (too often) unsuccessful—and the waitlist is usually about a year long. If you could actually get it done by a top-tier specialist under decent conditions, it might be worth dropping $5,000–$10,000$0.00, though I'm not sure if such options even exist here in the States.

I’ve got that deviated septum myself, and man, my sinuses take a beating. It feels like things just get worse every single year, but I haven't really pulled the trigger on surgery yet. For now, I’m just stuck in this cycle of using nasal drops, spraying stuff, and basically drowning myself in antibiotics and allergy pills because the inflammation just won't quit. 😢

The surgery itself doesn't hurt. You won't be comfortable for two weeks afterward, but damn it, that temporary discomfort is nothing compared to the daily misery you're dealing with right now for the rest of your life.

I've actually been using it for five years... except during the summer months... maybe.
