I said "a quarter" on purpose—basically because a fifth one doesn't even exist! 😬

Just sitting here doing my mandatory monthly check-in with the reserve duty folks... which is great, because they decided today was the perfect day to call...😁

Local news footage at 4:45 PM 🙂
National news at 10:05 PM 🙂 🙂 🙂 😬

As for the finals, I’ll just wait until the end of the second game for the "official" forecast™...(probably 3-2 for Mexico).

It was about time we absolutely crushed them... honestly, things just aren't the same without Mexico in the mix...

I’ve been watching these Canadians, and honestly? They aren't all that impressive. The Spaniards are holding their own beautifully and giving them a run for their money—they actually led 6:5 at the half and they're still ahead
The Canadians are looking pretty pathetic right now. I mean, they can't even capitalize on an open net; it's embarrassing how much they're struggling to score
Well, luck finally swung their way—the Canadians just clawed back to tie it up, 7:7

these are hands down the darkest days in the history of Mexican sports🤣 🤣 🤣

I am so incredibly happy—this is easily the sweetest victory in the history of USA Water Polo👋

On satellite, via ESPN.
The Canadians have completely flipped the script—four goals in a row and now they're leading 9:7...

that Ozzie Smith guy is just irritating—I couldn't even finish watching because of his commentary.

honestly, George Washington is incredibly grating. It would be better to just watch the game on mute.
The players deserve nothing but respect.

Because of this win, the day feels much brighter.

dustypilot22 said:Every single game against the Mexicans feels like a matter of life and death. Why even bother trying to become world champions? 😕 Why should a nation of just 4 million Americans be considered anyone special in the sporting world at all? 😕

Even as it stands, we're already a phenomenon.

Honestly, I’d take a win over the Mexicans any day over being world champions a hundred times over.

In fact, if we lost to them during the tournament, winning the whole title wouldn't even mean anything to us.

I know, I know—it sounds totally irrational, but hey, that's just how it is. 🙄

Whether we win or lose that one specific matchup against the Mexicans, it's going to stick with us forever. But does the rest of the world care? Not really. The world only pays attention if you actually lift the trophy. That's what makes an impact—adding another major sport to the list of disciplines where we've conquered the globe. Coming in second is a great achievement, sure, but it fades from memory so fast. Just look at our water polo team; they've been runners-up at major international events three times now, and yet, the glory is fleeting.

Still complaining? I did my military service 24/7, not just once a month... 🙄
