Painful urination

I’m sitting here crying and promising I won't bother this thread with more questions if you just please answer me quickly. It's late and I have nobody else to call. I’ve been dealing with this awful pain whenever I go to the bathroom. I’ve been using some antiseptic creams for a few days, but I finally took a look, and it looks bad. On my labia, there are these three long marks, almost like someone ran a razor blade across my skin. It’s red, it hurts like hell, and even water makes it sting. The marks aren't wider than 2 mm. Help.

If your skin is cracking from dryness and irritation, try rinsing it with some aloe vera juice—you can even use a soaked cotton pad as a compress. After that, apply some St. John's Wort oil to soothe the discomfort. Calendula is also great, whether you use it as a tea or an oil. Just ditch those harsh soaps and aggressive skincare products!

Was it something prescribed by a doctor, or just some over-the-counter cosmetic product?

(If it was the latter, I would suggest tossing it out immediately—honestly, I think any doctor would tell you the same thing, and if you notice an unusual odor, you really need to treat the underlying cause)

It wasn't prescribed... just tried various things like Neosporin, Bacitracin, or even almond oils. Everything I've used just made it worse.

Go see a doctor. Are you absolutely sure you didn't accidentally injure yourself with some rough toilet paper?
To take the edge off, try using some boric acid solution or Rivanol; just keep some cotton pads soaked in it against the area until the pain and swelling die down a bit. It’s what they use for postpartum tears, so it should work here too. Since this is such a sensitive, constantly moist area, it's basically a breeding ground for bacteria, so you're likely going to need an antibiotic ointment from a physician.

Thanks for the advice. That's actually what my doctor gave me—Rivanol and vaginal suppositories. He said they're "fissures," basically skin cracks. If anyone else has dealt with this, please let me know what causes it. My doctor was a bit blunt about it, implying I caused it myself by... well, he used a term for "rubbing" that felt pretty dismissive.🙂 🙂 I'm not going back to him. I didn't have any cracks, but twice now my skin has just completely peeled off. It came with these incredibly painful red blisters, too. My doctor, naturally, had absolutely no clue what was going on or why it happened; he just handed me some ointment at 🤔to rub on and called it a day.

I've dealt with those cracks before, and let me tell you, it is miserable. I couldn't even sit down comfortably or cross my legs without pain. 👎 I used Bepanthen ointment; it helps because I get similar cracks on my lips sometimes, and that stuff works wonders for them. Also, try taking some iron supplements. My doctor told me that skin cracking can happen when you're low on iron.

Probably just some kind of fungus.. grab a tube of Nystatin ointment and ask your doctor if they have anything else for it...

If you take Vaginalets, that’s what treats the yeast infection

Hm... there are just too many diagnoses being thrown around at once, especially regarding those recommended therapies. None of us can know for sure without seeing the actual results, so you really should either stick with that doctor's advice or seek a second opinion if you have doubts... based on what you've described, that physician seems quite competent, but it could also be a viral infection like HSV-2, or perhaps a co-infection where a virus, bacteria, and fungus are all present simultaneously... either way, follow that doctor's lead or find another specialist...

So, here's the deal: I was reading some posts here and saw that another girl mentioned having pain while peeing too... Does anyone know if there are any over-the-counter pills or anything else for painful urination and that constant urge to go? I need something I can just pick up at a drugstore without a prescription. I'm honestly a little worried it might be my kidneys since this has been dragging on for a while, especially since I've been feeling under the weather with a cold during this whole time!
Please, if anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. This is getting impossible to deal with. Thanks in advance!

Look, you aren't getting anywhere without actual research, an accurate medical diagnosis, and a legitimate prescription.🙄
If she's already reached her breaking point, she knows exactly what needs to be done.
If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't touch some amateurish, "he said, she said" DIY treatment. The symptoms you've described are textbook indicators for several different conditions, all of which require completely different approaches to treatment.

The best advice I can give you—if you want to act with any sense of maturity and responsibility toward your own health—is that this requires a mandatory doctor's visit.🙂

Go straight to the ER and demand a referral for a urinalysis. If you don't have a primary care physician in the city, just head to urgent care; they'll provide one. You could end up running a very high fever, and if this has already moved from your bladder to your kidneys, you shouldn't be playing games. Why is it that nobody wants to see a doctor? This is extremely damaging to the kidneys. Don't mess around.

Why try to avoid a doctor or a prescription?
Is it just because you're embarrassed that the pain while urinating might be a symptom of something more serious?

Come on, there’s no way this is a symptom of anything else. I haven't even had sex in my life, so what are you guys even talking about? It's probably just a lingering cold, except it's sticking around way longer than usual this time!
