Thoughts on glasses and lenses?

Hi everyone, does anyone know how much the cheapest rimless glasses actually cost—just the lenses, the bridge, and the temples? I’ve been browsing some shops around Seattle, but I can't find anything for less than $433. Is it worth looking elsewhere, or should I just reconsider my options? 😍

Mine ended up being about $200 and they're honestly perfect. I actually have a specific shop we all go to for frames because their prices are pretty reasonable..

I went with the high-end blue light lenses for computer work, which were roughly 500-$200.

The whole thing came out to somewhere between 1100 and $400. 🙂

Could you find them cheaper? 😉

My prescription is sitting at -5 with a 0.75 cylinder—basically a -6. If I don't go with high-index lenses, my vision looks like a stack of bricks.

The standard 1.6 index plastic runs about $600$233 for a pair, while the 1.67 index version jumps up to roughly $400

I need to know: is there a MASSIVE difference in thickness between 1.6 and 1.67? Is it actually worth paying double the cash?

The opticians here are insisting the difference is huge...

But honestly, it feels way too expensive to drop $400 on lenses that won't even last a year, considering my prescription keeps shifting. Even at 23, things aren't staying stable.

And goodness knows Medicare covers a whopping $20 🤣 🤣 😵

I picked up some Essilor 1.6 lenses with a -3.25 diopter strength $200 paired with frames that look perfectly fine $167 and even snagged a cash discount. All told, it was $300. Their approach was efficient and highly professional; they had my glasses ready in just ninety minutes. I actually swung by to pick them up before 7 PM and left satisfied. They still have my profile on file in their system.

Regarding Šahini over in Seattle, they’re running a deal right now where you get frames plus prescription lenses for $100. You have to pick from a specific selection of frames, though, but there are plenty of decent options. I grabbed a pair myself since I don't wear contacts, and there's just no point in dropping more than $333 on glasses that'll just sit in a drawer 😬
