Movie theater pauses: Yay or nay?

but ever since they started shoving those annoying commercials in front of us at the cinema, who even cares?

In theory, I don’t mind taking a breather during a movie—really, I don't—but honestly, when you're sitting through a two-and-a-half-hour epic, an intermission feels completely unnecessary. 😱

I hit the movie theater pretty regularly, but I’ve honestly never run into one of those films that takes an intermission. Maybe it’s just because I don't usually go for the big Hollywood blockbusters 😉

I actually really enjoy having intermission breaks and would love to see them become more common. I've grown quite accustomed to movies with commercial breaks; honestly, even watching films on cable networks that don't interrupt the action can feel a bit taxing, since I can't even step away for a quick glass of water without missing part of the story.

In principle, I can't stand them. But yesterday on Superman, one of them appeared like an absolute goddess. I could barely pull myself away. 😬

I honestly can't stand the breaks... they're just miserable. But since there's at least one theater where you can smoke, I find myself gravitating toward the AMC whenever I want to catch a movie.

Smoking during the show was easily the best part of those summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl🙏...and I’m definitely against breaks...maybe only for movies running over three hours, I guess.

I’m all for intermission breaks, but honestly, only if we’re talking about a movie that stretches past the three-hour mark. I need that chance to hit the restroom without feeling guilty, especially since I have this habit of polishing off a massive Sprite while watching, only to go grab another one right after the break.

A hard NO on those pauses. They absolutely murder the film's atmosphere and completely derail the plot...

Look at the garbage they’re pumping out in theaters these days. What kind of "cinematic experience" are we even supposed to be feeling? Honestly, I could use a break. Might go grab a bathroom break and find someone to actually talk to—someone I haven't already chatted up in the lobby.

On the other hand—I suppose you could say—intermissions are practically made for von Trier's films.
If you end up getting sick a few times before the credits roll, it feels just a bit cruel to be forced to wait until the very end just to finally go find a restroom. 🤮
