The legendary FW08BβI actually have a scale model at home (1:43 scale, I think that's as big as they get)βwhich Williams tested back in 1982.
There have been quite a few attempts throughout history to build a six-wheeled car, but none were truly successful, save for the Tyrrell one. Even then, that ended rather ignominiously when Goodyear refused to develop smaller tires. In today's aero-driven era, we might see more significant results, though the logistical headaches in the pits would be massive.π¬
As far as I know, only one prototype was ever built, and it's currently sitting in the Williams museum.π
It was driven a handful of times, including at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it immediately shattered the track record.πππ
A similar fate befell the Williams CVT transmission; it was banned before it even hit the track. Thankfully for everyone else, it stayed that way.πππ
