Excel - time calculations

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to make an Excel column show the difference between two previous cells when they're both using an hh:mm time format? I'd really love for the result to stay in that same hh:mm format too, if that's even possible.

If you've got one time in column A and a different one in column B, just toss =A1-B1 into column C, though I guess you'll need to make sure all three columns are formatted as hh:mm if you actually want the math to look right.

So, it’s giving me the results for cells A1 and B1, but I was wondering if there might be some way to just format the entire column so it automatically spits out that difference whenever I fill in those first two columns?

Formatting won't cut it, but a simple conditional will get you there.
So, you've got times in columns A and B, and you want the time difference to show up row by row in C as soon as you punch in the values for A and B (?) if that's the deal, just toss this formula into C1 (right next to A1 and B1) and drag it down as many rows as you need... basically, use this:

=IF(A1>0;A1-B1;"")

And boom, you're done...
