As a huge Star Trek fan, I’m really crossing my fingers that the eleventh installment, currently under the working title Star Trek: The Next Generation, actually turns out to be the best one yet. We've got the highly acclaimed Steven Spielberg (Band of Brothers) handling the script, and even Bryan Singer is reportedly eyeing the director's chair. The story is set to unfold a few years after the events of Star Trek: Enterprise, centering on the Romulan War and the early days of The Federation. It's looking like a fall 2007 release.
The big question remains, though: will they stick with this prequel concept featuring an entirely new crew, or will Paramount Pictures pivot toward a movie featuring the cast from Deep Space Nine, The Next Generation, or maybe even a mashup of both? Personally, I'd be stoked to see either an Enterprise film or something centered on Deep Space Nine.
Looking at the rest of the lineup, I am seriously hyped for the return of the legendary Sly in Rambo IV and Rocky VI. I'm also hoping Schwarzenegger finally clears his schedule for The Terminator IV, and specifically for the third Conan installment, titled Conan the Barbarian, where Arnold Schwarzenegger mentioned he'd love to see Dwayne Johnson play his son to finally tell the epic tale of how he became a great king.
Then there's the usual suspects like Superman and X-Men: The Last Stand, plus the sequel to Gladiator, which Russell Crowe is supposedly interested in. But since his character died in the first movie, rumors are swirling about either a prequel showing how Maximus became a general, or a sequel set twenty years later starring a nephew of the Komodo Dragon, with Russell Crowe appearing in flashbacks.
