So, just like the title says, does anyone actually know how often guys should be showering? I saw some random thread online claiming most dudes only do a full scrub once a week, while supposedly hitting the "critical zones"—armpits, junk, feet, and teeth—every single day. Someone who actually knows what they’re talking about, please weigh in... let's hear it.

Well, you clearly misread that... honestly, once every six months is plenty... 🙄 ☕

And if you don't mind me asking, what site were you browsing when you picked up that nonsense? CNN.com?

oh man 😲 😲

and then there's my guy in the tub... literally just happened yesterday

[action] brisknomad6 is sprinting toward the bathroom. she's trying to fish her poor guy out of the tub because of all this hair... grabs some old boxers from the laundry basket to wipe the shampoo off him. she's like, "honestly, you're gonna be the death of me, seriously." [/action]

I’d suggest taking a massive 250g dose of local dirt, mixing it with some tap water, and slathering it over every inch of your cleaned skin... 😲 just to prevent a total massacre of the bacteria living on men's bodies—bacteria that are absolutely essential for our survival. 🙂

There’s a certain logic to it... If you scrub too aggressively, you end up stripping away the dead skin cells along with the natural oils your skin produces to protect itself—leaving your skin vulnerable to bacteria and physical irritation. That’s why I’d suggest a deep, thorough soak in the tub shouldn't be happening more than once a week.

Of course, a quick rinse in the shower is perfectly fine in between, but making a habit of scrubbing your skin raw every single day just isn't healthy.

The issue is that showering every single day strips away the skin's natural acidity.

Which basically means it ends up looking worse, aging prematurely, and becomes way more prone to breakouts (as you can see above)

There isn't some magic milk or miracle cure that’s going to fix it for you...

How you react to daily washing really just depends on your specific skin type.

I personally think hitting the shower every two or three days is the move, but honestly... I don't want to smell like garbage to the people around me.

Nobody’s ever actually died from taking a shower or sitting in a bathtub...

That’s actually a benefit, not a drawback.

And then there's my guy in the tub... he was acting up yesterday too...

[action] brisknomad6 runs to the bathroom. For the sake of those few stray hairs, they pull their dear partner out of the tub. Reaching into the hamper full of dirty laundry, they grab the first pair of boxers they find and use them to wipe off the shampoo. Mumbling: "The man is actually going to kill me, he's going to be the death of me." [/action]

😁

Regarding the topic—yeah, I heard about that too. Now I only shower twice a month, and honestly, the silver lining is my water bill dropped significantly. The downside? I ended up single again. Or maybe that's also a plus... 😕

The first of the month is always the best time...
Back at my place, we actually have to collect rainwater just to get by; once Dad finally gets his paycheck and picks up some soap, maybe we’ll all get a chance to wash up! 🙄

But let’s be real—plenty of people have ended up at the dermatologist dealing with some seriously nasty rashes, skin irritations, lichenification, and all sorts of other bullshit.

It really isn't... see, that dead layer of skin acts as a protective barrier for the living tissue underneath—so, naturally, it's probably not the best idea to strip it away too frequently.

Yeah, I have to agree... all this talk about body odor is complete nonsense.
If you aren't engaging in grueling physical labor—and if you’re staying on top of basic hygiene like washing your feet, armpits, and groin—a person can easily go several days without being unpleasant to those around them.

Gregory Turner71 said:Not quite... that dead layer of skin exists to protect the living tissue underneath. You shouldn't be stripping it away too often.

Oh, absolutely... if you really need to look at it that way, go right ahead. 😁

Gregory Turner71 said:And yeah... honestly, that whole thing with the smell? It’s just a total clusterfuck.
So, I mean, if you aren't out there doing, like, back-breaking manual labor all day or whatever... I guess you could probably get away with skipping a shower for a few days? As long as you hit the basics—you know, washing your feet, pits, and... uh, everything else down there—you’d likely be totally fine and wouldn't really bother anyone around you. Maybe.

Man, they totally played you when they told you that. I mean, seriously, they were straight-up lying to your face. 😁

Man, I still remember when you used to start these whole threads just because nobody wanted to grab a coffee with you... or when you’d jump into a discussion about cool gifts and then end up whining to everyone that all you got was a bar of soap. Seriously. 😬

Matthew Sullivan32 😢 Look, I mean, if you’re wondering why you're still flying solo, maybe—and I'm just saying this, don't hate me—maybe it's because you aren't swapping out your socks every single day? Like, seriously, if you're only changing them once a week instead of tossing them in the hamper after every shower... man, that's probably the issue right there. Just a thought, I guess.

Gregory Turner71, what's the deal with the hair? 😲 How often does it actually need washing—or should I say, how rarely? I'm guessing only after getting caught in a downpour...

Sophia Martinez65 said:Gregory Turner71, what about hair care? 😲 How often—or rather, how rarely—does it actually need washing? I’m assuming it’s really just when you get caught in the rain...

I’d say every four or five days—though some people claim once a week is plenty.

This might sound like a pretty stupid question at first glance...
BUT
Human beings lived out most of their entire history without ever touching soap—let alone shampoo.
We’ve only been washing ourselves for a tiny fraction of our existence; we’re talking maybe the last 1% of our timeline at most.
The human race underwent its most massive evolutionary leaps during an era when detergents didn't even exist.
And yet, the biggest population explosion happened right around the time soap became a staple.

Does anyone actually know what would happen if we gave a polar bear a bath—according to human standards?
Or what the consequences would be if we started scrubbing individual species, or even entire types of animals, with shampoo?

Unless you’re doing heavy manual labor, if you just wash your feet, pits, and junk, you can go a few days without being a walking biohazard.

Look, you don't need to shower every single day, but after a couple of days it gets nasty, trust me. I know because my old landlord (honestly, I hope she drops dead in a ditch) used to only let me shower once a week on Wednesdays. And she'd turn off the water heater in between.
I just waited until my rent was paid up for the month and then bailed... realized pretty quick that after three days you start smelling unbelievable. Obviously, I was hitting up a buddy's place to shower way more than once a week during those weeks.

brisknomad6 said:Honestly, I feel like humanity hit its biggest evolutionary leap right when we didn't even have laundry detergent yet.

And man, what was the life expectancy back then? Like, maybe 26 to 30 years tops?

brisknomad6 said:The whole population explosion really kicked off once soap became a thing.

I mean, it’s kind of obvious, right? Once people actually got clean, they could finally get down to business and just... you know, hook up. 😁
