It feels like I’m the only one left in New York City who actually cares about Mercury... nobody’s talking about them, and there isn't even a dedicated thread. It’s pretty depressing considering they’re one of the most brilliant bands out there right now.👎 Come on, any other fans out there? I really don't want to be the only person at the show.🙂 Has anyone actually sat down with Deserter songs? It was easily one of the best albums of the nineties, and its sequel, All is Dream, holds up just as well. Their latest effort is a bit of a step down, sure, but it’s far from a disaster.👍 Is anyone planning on hitting the concert?

He’s playing at the Fillmore in New York City on the 30th...
Not sure what the ticket price is yet, but I'm definitely going... even if I have to go solo...🙂
Regarding Mercury Records—I'm with you on that Deserter track... easily their best work.
..The Secret Migration isn't bad either, actually quite good...
I'm dying to see what kind of visuals they've cooked up for this tour. I read somewhere they picked up a huge collection of old films to project during the show..
ps. If any of you end up going, please post a recap of how it went

Good grief. It reminds me of how they used to hype up those local indie bands at the dive bars back in the day—it was constant... every aspiring actress, every pretentious artist, basically anyone who thought they were "somebody" in this city would flock there. It felt like the old club scene was practically collapsing under its own weight... while the owners just sat around chatting amongst themselves, totally indifferent to who was actually playing on stage. I expect the exact same thing this Tuesday. And honestly? I'll be bringing my raincoat.

So, I'm actually going along—my girlfriend snagged two tickets for her birthday, so I guess I'm in, not that I'm making excuses or anything...😉 we'll just have to see how it goes... we'll see...

When it comes to The Flaming Lips, I’m right there with you on "Deserter Song." It's easily their best work.
Honestly, Secret Imagination isn't bad at all—in fact, it’s actually pretty good.
I can't wait to see what kind of video backdrop they’ve cooked up. I read somewhere that they picked up a massive collection of old films to loop during the tour.

Hey Renton, tickets are going for about $1,200 if you're planning on heading out to NYC. You absolutely have to go.
"Deserter's Song" is such a haunting piece. It really hits you right in the gut.🙏 A total masterpiece.

Deserter Songs fits this holiday season perfectly with its fairytale, escapist vibe... it’s incredibly dreamy, especially tracks like Holes, Endlessly, and tonuti IT shows—it feels like being teleported into a parallel universe🙂... and the rest holds up just as well. I know I’m repeating myself, but this is easily one of my favorite albums from the 90s, sitting right up there with The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips🙂... though you should also give All Is Dream a listen; it’s just as good, just a bit more rocker in its structure... take Little Rhymes, for instance

Look at this guy. First, he claims to be the only true fan of The Flaming Lips in Chicago. Then, a few people actually step up and say they're going. And now, suddenly, he's decided to lecture us all on what kind of music "those" guys play.

Give me some more options—throw in terms like fairytale, escapist, or whatever else... maybe something from The Soft Bulletin😁

Also, which other bands from the nineties were actually good—besides Radiohead or Nirvana?—so I know what to pick up.

My apologies. It is Friday. I worked both of the last two weekends—and I just want to get home and pass out. To make matters worse, there's this one person constantly calling for a *magical concert by one of the greatest bands in the world* every fifteen minutes. So, naturally, I snapped at the first person who dared to bring it up.

But I will settle the score with anyone else who dares to poke the bear on a Tuesday.😁

Hey brightridge19, some friends of mine were at weddings this past Tuesday, so get ready for the cold at Aquarius and maybe bring a blanket just in case.. Actually, it might even come in handy as a silencer if you end up having to shoot someone 👋

Yes, I already went over all those details back when we first discussed that disastrous pairing of Leo and an Aquarius water sign... absolutely dreadful. Honestly, there's no way it's going to rain; it’ll probably just be snow—I can already picture myself getting soaked through that flimsy patio tent. I think I'll just bring a flare gun instead of a rifle. It serves a dual purpose.
